How do you feel about Chris Weitz as director of the New Moon movie?
-Thumbs up
-Thumbs down
-I am reserving judgment
-I couldn’t care less!

The polls can be found along the right side on every page. Have fun!

Check out our last poll results, here.

My answers are:
I think New Moon can be way more successful than Twilight. We’ve got the fans, and we’ve gotten extra fans just from the move. I think New Moon has the potential to break all kinds of records. As for Chris Weitz, I think he sounds like a fantastic director, but I’m going to reserve judgment on him until I actually see the movie. I am excited by all the positive things the cast say about him!

What do you think?

I think New Moon won’t be as successful as Twilight if they stick to the book, and exclude Edward for the most part. He is the reason young and old girls and women all over the world fell in love with the book series, and he’s who we want to see. If they can include more screen time for Rob, and don’t include all the boring wolf pack stuff, it could be massivley successful. I saw Twilight 13 times at the cinema, but will only see New Moon once if Edward’s screen time is diminished.
As for Chris, I’m thrilled he’s taken over. I would love to see how he takes control and directs his actors, unlike the fruitloop Catherine Hardwicke who seemed to have no control or direction for the actors. here’s hoping.

I have watched The Golden Compass 3 times now and it is visually stunning. The script-not so great. But Chris knows visual effects and how things should look. The cast loves him so I am extremely optimistic. I voted Way More Successful and Thumbs Up.
New Moon has great actors (all of whom will step up and knock this one out of the park), a good director, more budget than Twilight, and the fans to go see it 10 times or more-Ha Ha. The only thing that worries me is the script, which I felt was what was lacking in Twilight. I was hoping at first that they would hire someone else to write the script for New Moon-but that didn’t happen. So obviously someone at Summitt thinks Melissa was the right person for the job. I hope they were right. As I have said before, the actors and the director don’t need the extra pressure of having to rewrite the script while they are shooting.

Due to the state of the world economy as well as the fact that Harry Potter is coming out this year in which unlike the last 4 will be uping there game on Merchaindise to compete with Twilight(90% of twilight fans are Harry Potter fans) that by time november comes people will probaly be less finacialy stable to afford such things as seeing New moon 8 times as with twilight.
but saying that there is a whole lot of new twilight fans…only time will tell

as for the director if Edward let of some frustration with an apple pie in the book then chris would be a great director and chris turned what should of been the most controversial childrens movies ever but with a moving and powerful statement turned in to fluff they took me 3 days to watch cause it was sooooo BORING…

I vote Way more successful. Now you’re getting into the grit of the story… I think it’s essential to bring in the wolf pack and show that side of things, despite how much we would all love to see more Edward face-time. Jacob is such a huge character throughout the remainder of the saga, so it’s necessary to show that kind of dynamic element as well…

And for Chris Weitz, I think he’ll do fantastic! I agree with twilightfan14… He knows his visual effects, which they will need to show the transformation of the wolves etc. I only wish he could be the director for the next 2 films as well… I hear he will be too crunched for time to be the director of Eclipse… he’ll be wrapping up the editing and CGI effects on New Moon while they start filming for the 3rd movie. Maybe he’ll come back for Breaking Dawn?? :) Either way, I can’t wait to see what he’s done with New Moon!!!!!

I can say I want to be optimistic. I am extremely happy there is a different director. I just wish there was a new person adapting the book. I read ‘somewhere’ that there had already been several rewrites. At this point there is no way to know this, or guess it’s meaning. I will be positive for now.

I have to strongly disagree about not sticking to the book. If they write in more Edward just to have Rob’s presence on screen more, it will be a colossal mistake. The pain of losing him will be lessened if he isn’t gone, or even gone as long. Nor will the reunion be the same. In order for the relationship between Bella and Jacob to develop and grow, and to become what it does in Eclipse, they have to have the time together from New Moon. As Stephenie said, NM represents the darkest time in Bella’s life. Jacob helps her through this. He helps her continue her life. She may not have been there for Edward to return to if Jacob had not been there for her. And, been there in such a close and intimate way.
Again, this is the time Bella fell in love with Jacob. If they don’t get this right, it will be tough to have Eclipse evolve as it should.

    Mr. Weitz, are you listening?

I believe New Moon will be so much better than Twilight. Twilight didn’t have the budget that New Moon has and it’s going to make a big impact on the movie. Plus Chris is pretty fantastic when it comes to CGI. It seems like the cast is all wound up for New Moon, I think that Rob & Kristen will give an awesome performance as Bella & Edward. I guess this movie will give Taylor is turn to shine. I don’t really think it was necessary for him to pump up his body. It wasn’t a good thing.

I loved Twilight. Hated the filming. The camera was never still, it was always shaking. I was getting dizzy watching it. As for Chris I vote the movie to be way more successful! I love his work. Nick and Norah’s was incredible. And as for people not seeing it because of Rob, I don’t think thats true. There are soooooooooooo many Twilight fans. And everyone wants to see how Taylor Lautner will be as Jacob Black. I happen to be an Edward fan, but I know many Jacob fans as well. I know good or bad, I will probably see this movie more than once. I think they should stick to the book. I think the long absence of Edward makes you that much more excited when you see him in Italy. Also fans might cause an apocolipse if the movie veers from the books true plot.

I think New Moon has the potential of being WAAAY better than Twilight especially visually, (special effects!) & artistically (make-up!!). However, I do share the concern that others on here have mentioned in regards to the screenplay. I didn’t like the way Melissa did Twilight AT ALL. I mean she did NOT write enough of the Cullen’s in for one thing and their special talents are SOOO huge in Eclipse and B.D.!! So on that aspect, I think we may be short-changed yet again. I love both Jacob and Edward equally…so with that being said, I truly hope they will stick to the book and let Edward’s absence be what it’s suppose to be… (PAINFUL!!!!). Let Jacob and Bella’s r-ship develop the way it’s supppose to!! Don’t mess with the storyline just to give R-Patz “screen time” ….that’s absolutely ridiculous. Stick with the book Chris and Melissa!! PLEASE!!!!

    1. I think that Chris Weitz will do much better than the lady who did “Twilight” – I sure hope so at least!! She did SO much wrong! My biggest peeve? All the vampires are supposed to move pretty much silently – So the stupid sound effects ruined a lot of scenes. Next, the meadow was TOTALLY wrong. Of course there was “La Push” — All the rocks on First Beach, the “cliffs” not being right — Doesn’t go with the book, and doesn’t fool those of us who have been there or looked at real pictures. She let WAY too much little detail slide in the movie – i think she thought people wouldn’t notice, or wouldn’t care – I DO, and so does everyone I know. Hardcore fans, or at least people who prefer authenticity, WANT THE SMALL STUFF. If you read the books, you know how vivid and important everything is.

    2. I think that as long as they stick to the books, New Moon will be at least as successful, if not more so, than Twilight was — We fell in love with the BOOKS first, therefor, people know not to expect as much Edward in this movie. If they waiver too much from the book, it will disappoint A TON of fans.

I look forward to seeing how this movie turns out……..
