VANCITY ALLIE: THE BELLA MOTORCYCLE MYSTERY

Posted May 2nd, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 24 Comments »

Vancity Allie is back with some new, awesome coverage straight from the set of New Moon. In the scene she managed to catch a glimpse of last night, Kristen Stewart (as Bella) is shown riding a motorcycle with what appears to be one of the men that her and Jessica stumble upon at a pub after their movie fiasco. It’s worth noting that from the looks of it, this is a scene not found in the book, and that this is not the filming of the motorcycle scenes with Jacob and Bella, nor will it replace those scenes. In addition to a few dark pictures, Vancity Allie managed to get some great video of the scene:

I’ll be the first to say that I am a huge stickler when it comes to a film adaptations following the book to the core, and that I generally dislike new scenes/story lines that are added to enhance a movie. However, this scene looks awesome. If Allie is correct in her guesses of where the scene fits, I am convinced I’ll be thoroughly pleased with the way it turns out.

What do you think of the new pictures and video? Do you agree with Allie, from the looks of the pictures and video, of her assumptions on what the scene is and where it fits? Does the possible addition of this scene to the movie worry you since it wasn’t in the book?

    ???
Ok, am I missing something?! Clearly that was never a part of the book; Bella is supposed to ride with Jacob, and Jacob ONLY.
What the? They better make this look good and logical… because right now it doesn’t make any sense to me.
The bike looks pretty cool though:)

  • Addicted to Edward

I think they are trying to up the action/tension of when Bella hears Edward’s voice….if done well, I don’t mind this kind of embellishment. Maybe this is what gives Bella the idea to ride bikes with Jake?

  • MsCullen12

Yeah the video is when they see the guys at the bar because the green neon sign says one eyed pete and that was the name of the bar in the book

  • may

riding motorcycles is bella and JACOB’s thing! :( what the hell :l

  • Sia

I understand what their doing and it will probably look cool but I STILL DON’T HAVE TO LIKE IT !
Honestly two motorcycle scenes ? The one in the book was good enough and I understand they need to do it to show Edward but they couldn’t come up with anything else ?
I love the book and I only wish they stay close to it ! THE BOOKS ARE THE ONLY REASON I’M OBESSED AND STILL HERE !

  • MsCullen12

Watch the videoo! look at the green neon sign! its not another motorcycle scene its the movie scene with jessica when they see the guys at the bar
in the book the name of the bar is one eyed pete
and in the video thats the same name

  • Josie

WTF? no not liking the idea at all. They better have it make sense cusz right nOw its not making any. Not cool. They better stick close to the book on all the other parts b/cusz thats the only reason im overly in love with Twilight!! Just like Sia said , THE BOOKS ARE THE ONLY REASON I’M OBSESSED AND STILL HERE!!!

  • Forever a Twilighter

I agree that they are probably upping the action here for visual effect. I’m ok with that. Once I calmed down a moment. But, I can see it logically leading to Bella wanting to ride bikes with Jacob since she sees Edward when she’s riding a motorcycle with some random crazy guy. After Twilight, I realized that I could let a lot go and still enjoy the movie. They left out far too much from Twilight in my opinion. It seems that all I’ve seen for New Moon are additions and lots of things the cast mentions in interviews sound right on target from the book. I’d rather have some additions than subtractions any day :)

  • Tannis

Maybe this motorcycle scene is just a flash of an errant thought in Bella’s head of one of the choices that she could make when she runs into the guys outside of the bar….she could turn the other way and “Be Safe” as Edward would want her to do, or she could get on the back of the bike with one of the guys which is something that she wouldn’t ever normally do and something that Edward would be against….just a thought:-)

  • Just megan

I thought the bike was supposed to be more rugged looking than new?

  • dancinnangel

I think this could actually turn out to be a cool addition to the movie. If you think about how it would play out on screen, Bella walking across a street and standing 10 feet away from a group of guys at a bar might not seem so dangerous, but getting on the back of a motorcycle with a random guy definitely would, so it would make more sense to hear “Edward” getting upset. It also creates a visual link for when she sees the bikes, and ties in more to why she chooses to use them as a way to be reckless. Remember, you can’t have Bella’s thoughts running in the background through the whole movie like in the book so they need to find different ways to make the plot make sense for the movie as well, and especially for people who have not read the book (I know its blasphemy but there are people in the world who haven’t and probably never will). Imagine if you hadn’t read the book and you saw a scene where Bella walks toward a group of guys, said basically nothing, and all of a sudden Edward starts to yell at her to stop – not very explanatory or exciting…cut to a couple scenes later Bella is driving by herself, again no dialogue, and she sees some bikes on the side of the road and suddenly wants to drive a motorcycle – where did that idea come from, and how do you show that if you can’t hear her stream of consciousness? These scenes would make little to no sense and in my opinion detract from the plot due to their lack of explanation of what Bella is actually going through, even though that is pretty much an exact interpretation of what happened in the book. People need to be more open minded and trust that this movie is going to be great, even if it isn’t exactly what Stephanie Meyer wrote on paper. Remember she has read the script and approved everything that is going on, and she has even said she would never ok anything unless she thought it was something the characters would or could have done at that point in the storyline.

In short…chillax people, it will be ok :)

  • LarissaH

If the movie is to really push the point that Bella is doing something dangerous to force her hallucinations, taking a ride with a strange guy on a motorcycle is definitely going to get that point across. I like it.

  • shonla

I agree Dancinnangel! I think that this will be a cool scene! I don’t mind if they add something extra that’s not in the book!

  • monika

As long as its done well, and doesn’t take time out of other very important scenes from the book, I don’t mind, I agree with Stephenie Meyer that these are things that may have happend in the lives of Bella and Edward and Jacob. Like I said as long as they don’t play down or omit other cruxial actual scenes from the books.

  • Twilight Mom Australia

I agree with Addicted to Edward, dancinnangel , LarissaH, it might enhance the movie if done well, to then give Bella the idea to ride a motorcycle with Jacob. Yes chillax all those who doubt.
Sometimes I think I should not watch these video clips and look at all the photos , and be surprised when the movie comes out ,BUT I just can’t help myself.

  • Newborn1863

I’m never happy with a movie once I have fallen in love with the book, but I just keep telling myself “adaptation, adaptation” and I know I will get through it !!!

  • wen

Bella didn’t ride with the pub guys but they were outside the pub and not inside, but if you remember she spent a fair bit of time standing in the street, reflecting and hallucinating looking at the guys (who by the way were not the same ones she encountered in Twilight, this would have to be a rather boring or short scene, but it is a pivotal moment to how Bella discovers she can re-capture Edward in her mind. So since a movie is a visual experience hence the literary license?

  • Ellen

Okay, I know where this is, and it is pretty straight out of the book, if I’m right. It’s when Jessica agrees to go out with Bella, thinking Bella is back to normal now. They go to a movie, and Bella sees those guys outside the pub. They remind her of the drunks from Twilight, and she knows that by going near them, she’ll hear Edward. The riding on the motorcycle is different, but her going up to them and Jess freaking out is in the book. ((:

    If I’m right, I hope this helped (;

  • Amaannddaa

I think it’s just going to be a visual of Bella just thinking about getting on the bike with the guys because that would be the most dangerest thing she could do to hear Edwards voice but she won’t go along with it…I think it’s just going to be a visual thing as Bella was thinking it.

Once again this is what I think…It’s just a guess.

  • Lily

This is stupid and I know that they have to change things but this is dumb.

  • K@t!3

I think dancinnangel is totally right:D!! I’m really really excited for this. They have to make it as cinematic as possible. You can’t have voice over from Bella every two-seconds because that would get annoying. This is a way to connect the emotions and everything together. Please, have more faith twilighters!! it will be awesome and it will make better sense then if they stuck to the book (and its not like they are cutting Jacob/Bella’s motercycle scene out because…yeah that would SUCK!!)
11.20.09 can NOT come fast enough

  • Paige

Oh my goodness! So, i wonder…if this is where she first hears Edward’s voice when she’s by those creeps…then does she jump on the back of a motorcycle with one of them? That. Would. Be. So. Cool. Normally, i don’t like it when they change things up from the book to the movie, but this looks really amazing. I can’t wait!!!

  • oretha

I think this is visually pumping it up. Seeing Kristin doing her own stunts is very very cool. Its one of those cases where you know the actors are taking the roles to heart.

  • twilightcountryresident

It sounds like you can hear Jessica yelling “Bella, stop!”. It’s at about 1:53.
