VARIETY: ‘TWILIGHT’ TO GET A VIRTUAL WORLD

Posted September 2nd, 2009 By: Evie 5 Comments »

Variety is reporting that Summit Entertainment has partnered with Habbo to create a virtual Twilight world.

Habbo, a teen-oriented virtual world website, has teamed with Summit Entertainment for “Twilight”-themed online activities, items and polls.

The site is set to launch this fall in time for the domestic release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

“Habbo’s understanding of the teen online audience means they can build a unique virtual experience for their users,” said Jack Pan, exec VP of marketing for Summit. “This is the first time Summit has partnered with a virtual world, so we wanted to be sure to work with a company with a proven track record for providing exciting, engaging activities.”

The site allows users to create customized online characters and interact with other users in a virtual environment.

honestly? i want to know why they have to pimp out twilight all willy nilly. it would be awesome if they took two seconds to work on branding the franchise as something classier. geez.

Ooh this is a fun idea! LOVE! Not so fond of the animation for the site you have posted though, kinda hope they up the graphics for their “Twilight World”. xD

Wow, I can’t believe out of all the virtual/avatar sites out there, they pick a fugly one like Habbo to partner with. : / They should have gone with Gaia (as far as a larger, well known site), they could have made an awesome “Twilight themed world”.
