VB: ‘TWILIGHT’ IS THE MOST PRE-ORDERED DVD IN WAL-MART HISTORY

Twilight is the most pre-ordered DVD in Wal-Mart history, according to the chain, as it releases further details about its Friday launch parties for the teen vampire flick.The film’s cast has taped a fan greeting that will be broadcast exclusively through Wal-Mart’s in-store TV network during its midnight parties. This message, from unspecified film talent, was filmed on the set of Twilight’s sequel, New Moon.
More than 2,400 of Wal-Mart’s 24-hour stores will host bashes for Twilight, which streets from Summit Home Entertainment on March 21. Wal-Mart is exclusively selling the film’s single-disc version. Twilight’s two-disc special edition will be available widely at retail.
Also, Wal-Mart joins Hastings, Blockbuster and other retailers in rolling out blood drives at select outlets starting today. Donors will receive exclusive Twilight-themed gifts while supplies last.
The first 50 people in line for Wal-Mart parties will score an exclusive gift package filled with such goodies as a custom folder featuring star characters Bella and Edward, Twilight tattoos and materials for hosting at-home viewing parties.
“We know this is unlike any other DVD release in our history, and we want to deliver a memorable event and store experience for teens and adult fans everywhere,” said Greg Hall, VP of merchandising Wal-Mart Entertainment.

Impressive! ‘Twilight’ is making history at Wal-Mart, and they are only one of several stores that are really promoting the DVD release. I can’t wait to see the DVD sales totals over the weekend for all stores.

I pre-ordered a blu-ray copy thru Blockbuster, but am hoping to buy a regular copy for the other dvd players in the house, lol

Yaaay for Walmart for rolling out the goodies and hosting the parties…but I have done my research on all the different Twilight DVD’s being released and so far Target has the best deal. You pay $17.99 for 3 discs with all the extended features plus an itunes downloadable version of the movie. Borders is way too much at $29.99 its like they’re charging an extra $10 for the 10 Twilight pictures included in the set. Big Whoop! So I will be heading to the Walmart, Hot Topic and Borders parties and then going straight to Target Sat morning to get my DVD set!!!!!
i pre-ordered from target, deluxe edition… they dropped the price to $17.99… i’ll have to wait ’til the 25th to get it though. I did reserve at FYE for their midnight party and it’s also going to be on pay per view on timewarner on 3/21….
The pre-order in Mexico is sold out!!! that is impressive too, is good that I pre-order my copy from every store (all special editions since January) I even got an email yesturday from Borders telling me my special edition was shipped !!! YEAH !!! I am even going to San Diego for the Twilight Release Party and I live in Mexico City… I am a real fan !!

those gift bags were pthetic lol they had a brocure how to make a good twilght party a team edward tattoo a door handle saying twilight screening in progress and the bag is posters i was dissapoioned but i got sum posters lol
