COLDPLAY TO BE ON THE ‘NEW MOON’ SOUNDTRACK?
If you’re familiar at all with Coldplay’s website, you know they have a whole section where “The Oracle” answers questions from fans. Recently a fan asked the Oracle a question regarding Coldplay appearing on the New Moon soundtrack, and this is what the Oracle responded:
Q. Dear all-knowing Oracle
I heard a rumor that The Scientist by Coldplay (obviously) was going to be on the New Moon soundtrack. Is this true?A. It’s very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel given that Stephenie Meyer has credited Coldplay, amongst others, on the inner sleeve for “being instrumental in staving off the writer’s block”.

I’m not quite sure what to think. I’m not familiar enough with Coldplay’s website to know if the Oracle is always correct or not. It would be fantastic if Coldplay had a song on the New Moon soundtrack though. Stephenie Meyer does have quite a few of their songs on her playlists, and they really have some incredible music. I’d personally be excited!

YAY! I hope so! I guess some of my faves that could fit New Moon would be Speed of Sound, Clocks (kinda a sorta Jake showing Bella something really cool like the cliff divers….?), Fix You, The Scientist, actually really any of their songs capture the mood I pictured for the Twilight Saga…. just a sorta laid back indie style with overtones of action, adventure, and fantasy….. Sorry, aspiring film maker here…. I really hope they get one or even two (like with Paramore) for New Moon! It’s not my fave book (as I’m sure it’s not many other peoples either) but still looking forward to the movie and Coldplay would make it sooo amazing!

I think that the Incubus songs Earth to Bella pts 1&2 should be put in the movie. It would work great in the scene where she cliff dives!!!
There is really only one Coldplay song that, if there is any justice in the universe, simply MUST be on the soundtrack, and that is FIX YOU. If that song doesn’t just SCREAM the storyline between Jacob and Bella… it’s like Stephanie channeled those lyrics into the writing of this book. I’ve seen some fanvid on youtube using that as a backtrack and it’s simply bone chilling.
I am completely Team Edward but c’mon folks, you gotta agree with this one.. Fix You is sooo Bella and Jacob’s theme (just like Evanescence Immortal Beloved is the right backtrack to Bella losing it over Edward’s departure).

I’m sure that it will be My Never. It is supposed to be a song about Jacob and Bella.

I don’t know anything about the Oracle and it’s track record for being correct, but I do like Cold Play. Fix You would be very good fit for New Moon and just about any of those mentioned by Twilight Mom Australia would be good to. I do favor Fix You though for the movie.
if there is going to be a coldplay song, i think it should be ‘fix you’ from jacob’s point of view. the song just fits perfectly.

Hey, Annelise…pretty name by the way…I was thinking the same thing. Fix You would be perfect for Jake to Bella as he watches her struggle.
I think that cemeteries of London should be put in New curing the scene when they are chasing through the streets of Volterra. Like the first slow part should be when theya re on the plane and when alice gets the porche then when the tempo picks up they should be racing through the streets. If you have the song go listen to it and imagine it is awesome.

I have been hoping that they would choose a little known Coldplay song called ‘Til Kingdom Come. I think it would be perfect to play when Edward is deciding that he is going to go back to Bella (before the phone call from Rosalie).

I LOVE Coldplay. I hope that they are on there. I just listened to Til Kingdom Come and it’s amazing, I’ve never heard it before, but I don’t think they’d choose that one but the Scientist WOULD BE AMAZING!!!! I can’t wait… a bunch of the girls at work and I have requested that day off work so that we can go to the midnight showing!

GRAVITY!!! a coldplay song called gravity is perfect for edward and bella making out.. Lol! try to listen to it and imagine them in the bed cuddling… just perfect!
