WOMAN FINDS 'TWILIGHT' SEQUEL SCRIPT IN TRASH

WOMAN FINDS ‘TWILIGHT’ SEQUEL SCRIPT IN TRASH

We have a great article from the Associated Press about a woman who found a couple of Summit scripts in a trash bin.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis beauty salon owner accidentally happened upon one of the hottest Hollywood scripts — the pages from an upcoming “Twilight” sequel — in a trash bin.

Casey Ray found two scripts, one for the vampire sequel “New Moon” and one for a different movie titled “Memoirs.” She decided to return them to the studio making the films. In return, she was invited to attend the movies’ premieres, her lawyer said.

Ray recently was waiting for her fiance to finish work when she spotted two scripts in a trash container. She was outside a hotel where actors were staying during a St. Louis shoot for the upcoming George Clooney movie, “Up in the Air.”

It’s not clear how the scripts wound up in the bin.

The Clooney movie includes actress Anna Kendrick, who is also in the “Twilight” vampire movie. A spokeswoman for Kendrick, Lisa Perkins, said the actress wouldn’t have left scripts lying around.

When Ray found the scripts, she considered leaking them to a national tabloid but decided against it, said her lawyer, Al Watkins.

“My client didn’t really want to get paid,” he said, but she was interested in hanging onto the scripts as collector’s items.

Watkins helped her return them to Los Angeles-based Summit Entertainment LLC, the studio making the movies. He said the studio invited Ray to premieres for the two films, and will certify the scripts as authentic after the movies are released.

“Summit doesn’t comment on any of the deals it does,” Summit spokesman Paul Pflug said. But he added, “We thank Ms. Ray for doing the right thing.”

The “Twilight” movies are based on the novels of Stephenie Meyer, so many of the plot turns are well known to readers. But keeping the “New Moon” script written by Melissa Rosenberg out of the public eye preserves which elements of the book will be included in the films, Pflug noted.

This is a crazy story! I can’t imagine someone throwing those scripts away. And what a lucky lady to be invited to both of the movie’s premieres! I wish I could find a script like that.

What did you think of this story? Would you turn the scripts in? Would you keep it?

This is a very strange story. If it had been in Hollywood, I would have less problem believing it. But St Louis?

It seems more than a coincidence that an actor from both the movies was staying at the hotel close to the trash bin. Did anyone ask Anna to show them her copies? Are we suppose to believe there is no connection?

    Puh-leeze.

  2. alexis responded:

    BUSTED!
    how can anyone even THINK
to throw away something so precious!?

  3. robiewankenobie responded:

i know i would have returned it, but i don’t know if i would have been able to keep from reading it!

  4. twilighter4life responded:

If you go to IMDB.COM and look and what ACTOR is in both of those movies,( New Moon & Memoirs aka Remember Me) its not hard to guess who those scripts belonged to ….ROB!?!?!

  5. Carly responded:

I don’t understand this. Aren’t the scripts watermarked with the actors names so they know exactly whose scripts they are? Also…in St. Louis? I would assume that would be easy to track based on which actor would have been there at that time? Also, isn’t Rob Pattinson the only actor in both films? It would seem they would have to both be his if they were found together, right? This story just doesn’t make any sense. Additionally, it says Summit “will certify the scripts as authentic after the movies are released.” Why?

  6. CloverDilly responded:

IF this is true, good for her for doing the right thing by turning the scripts in to Summit and she should be rewarded for doing so. And what a nice reward it is.

However, I’m not sure why Anna Kendrick had a script for Memoirs as she is not in the movie. Even if she was reading for a part, would she have the whole script?

The lawyer that Ray has is a personal injury lawyer. I’m not saying she could not consult him on this subject and maybe he is a personal friend, but it seems like an odd choice of lawyers to choose from if she looked online or in a phone book.

  7. slayfan responded:

I would have given them back just as soon as I got done reading them !blush I would not have been able to help myself there is something about reading a script - any script that is half way decent it’s magical for me - I have said it before and I will say it again I’m a strange person a strange obsessed person! :)

  8. #1twilighter08 responded:

OME!! why would you hand it in?? i mean at least get them to pay you to have it back! well i do suppose it was the right thing to do so yeah…

i still think that she should have kept it!

  9. Clair de Lune responded:

I have to admit, this sounds like a PR stunt to me!

  10. featherhead responded:

Is Anna even in Memoirs? I thought Rob Pattison was signed up to do that movie? Was he in St. Louis also? This sounds like a set up cuz they knew the actors were staying there. Anyways, greatful she didn’t leak the script and ruin the movie for everyone, tempting though, but good of her not to.

  11. Sorceres responded:

there’s a new moon early draft script circulating on youtube. though i’m not sure whether its 100% real.
i got it though i’m hesitating whether to read it coz it’ll spoil the surprise factor..

  12. Caitlin responded:

Hmm, aren’t they still searching for a female role for Memoirs? Perhaps, Anna Kendrick got the role, but, it hasn’t officially been announced.

  13. delastella responded:

I am so glad she returned them. I probably would have considered keeping them as souvenirs and then given them back. I wouldn’t want to be the one to ruin it for everyone. I think it was probably just a careless mistake. Nobody is perfect. Kudos to her for doing the right thing and the same to Summit for rewarding her honesty.

  14. Twilight Mom Australia responded:

    Nahh, I don’t believe it …..

  15. Gina responded:

I’ve heard some of the actors saying their scripts were watermarked, so they would be in huge trouble for throwing them away…so it does sound a little fishy. It could have been any of the staff from Summit as well, doesn’t necessarily have to be an actor.

  16. M. responded:

When I read the headline I was shocked. Though there would be a huge scandal like Midnight Sun. Glad, it wasn’t. I would’ve returned the scripts.

  17. Erenn responded:

I’m hard pressed to believe this… I just can’t imagine why anyone would throw those away in a regular trash bin… I mean, wouldn’t you think they would have some privacy clause or something forbidding them to just toss them in a regular trash can??? I would think that they would be required by the company to shred any unused or unwanted copies… And if they could find out who threw them away, that person be liable for a breach of contract??? I don’t know… It just seems to fishy to me to think that some random woman would find something so valuable in the trash…. however, nothing surprises me anymore… It just doesn’t seem too plausible.

  18. IFoundMYEdward responded:

Ohhhh Anna! TSK TSK! Two words for you……(**clears throat** in her best Trump impression)…….YOU’RE FIRED!!!

  19. Chris responded:

I tried to locate the leaked script off the Internet but it’s been pretty locked down. I would have no qualms about reading it. Wouldn’t ruin a thing for me when the movie comes out. I did locate just a few page on youtube (haven’t read yet) and I’m hoping they’re real. They look real. It’s just kind of nice to have them. :)

I too was thinking it was a PR stunt. They go to strange lengths to stay in the spotlight (as if New Moon wasn’t there already).

  20. Stephanie responded:

FYI, I’m from the STL and the scripts were Anna Kendrick’s. She was here filming Up in the Air with George Clooney and the scrips were found in a dumpster outside The Chase Park Plaza which is a swanky hotel in the city. Summit thanked her but giving her two tickets to the premiere and the script signed by Rob and Kristen. What a lucky lady. They said they thought Anna left them in her hotel room and the maid threw them out. I wonder if I could fit in her carryon!?

  21. Marianne responded:

I thought each script had a water mark on each page with the actors name on their copy so in a case like this they would know whose script it was. That’s what both Ashley and Edi had said during an earlier interview. Maybe Summit knows and is just not saying who. I’m guessing that’s the case.

  22. Eliza Braatz responded:

Yep in St. Louis, They had the woman on our local news here. They think it was Anna and that they accidentally gotten thrown away. I dunno but I couldnt believe it and how lucky would that be to find it. I personally dont think I could have just let them go but she gets a script after the premiere signed by the cast, and tickets to the premier so I guess she wins wither way but I dunno It was such a bizzare thing.

  23. Rene responded:

First, I would like to praise the salon worker who returned the scripts. She did a noble thing on not leaking to tabloids. I would’ve done the same thing. Returned them to Summit ASAP. Do they put the actors/actress name on them?Second, I don’t think Robert had anything to with it. He w no where near St. Louis. But, didn’t his trailor get broken into a couple months back? If it was Anna K. that did this, maybe she auditioned for Memoirs, got the script, but suddenly was let go because Summit found someone better for the part. She was upset with Summit and threw both of her scripts away. They’re scripts for petes sake! It’s like throwing away a bible!

I am a Robaholic (and proud of it)

  24. Jayne responded:

Okay, come on… who else would have read them just a tiny bit first? just to see what how our favourite bits are going to turn out!?

    noone? - Just me then!

    xx

  25. patty responded:

what? who thorw a scirpt away like that? shame on you whoever you are! of cousrei t may be false but you never know. but this lucky owman got invited to the premiere. damn I wish I was!

  26. Shannon responded:

I live in St. Louis and it was on our local news. They said that Anna Kendrick had left the scripts in her hotel room and I guess the maids threw the scripts away and they ended up in the dumpster. Somehow she saw them while she was waiting on a ride and pulled them out of the dumpster and took them to her attorney. He then contacted Summitt and made arrangements for her to get tickets to the next 2 premiers, tickets to the afterparties and she will get the scripts back signed by all of the cast members!!!! Nothing like this would ever happen to me and since I live so close to where it happened, it makes me sooooo jealous! I only live like 5-10 min from where she found the scripts!

  27. ErikaP responded:

Weird, very weird. Whether the maids at the hotel “accidentally” toss out the scripts (thinking they were just trash…hmmm.)I think otherwise (about the maids) perhaps the persons were going to retrieve them out of the trash that day/night. That is great that the hairstylist did not turn them to the dorks with tabloids press. However, what was she doing digging around in a dumpster? I mean it could not be THAT simple to just turn your head and POP! your eyes see something like a well-known movie script in the trash! It is very weird.

Shannon, I, too would hate to be so close to a “hot spot” location and Lady Luck never blesses me with finding something so prized. UGH!

    Keep rubbing that rabbit’s foot!

    (served bumped me again!)

  28. Jessica responded:

I have to be honest, I would have read them and held onto them. I would have locked them away somewhere to probably find 20 years from now. I honestly don’t think I would make it public or show anyone, for fear of losing it.
Also, why was the woman going through the trash? Just curious.

  29. Lucy . responded:

Just wondering why she was going through the bin, if you saw a wad of paper in a bid would you pick it up.
think it may be a publicity thing but still i would have read them then handed them back… if i told the papers then it would ruin new moon. yeah i’d be rich but think of all the twilight fans who would hate me … And there are ALOT of twilight fans out there

  30. Addicted to Edward responded:

Well, to be honest, I probably wouldn’t turn them in. But I wouldn’t take them to the tabloids or post them on the internet either. I’d keep them for my personal collection!

  31. Pen responded:

What is she doing looking in garbage cans? Then digging in them? Something’s not right about that.

  32. Rene responded:

Read the article again! The scripts were not in a dumpster, they were in a trash bin; aka as a garbage can. They were not crumbled up papers. If you see a script that had either “New Moon” or “Memoirs” on the cover, would you want to retrieve out of the trash bin? The hero of the day (Salon owner), I think recognized “New Moon” and thought, “Oh S*#T!” She was very smart to retrieve them. If the scripts were laying right on top. She was very smart to retrieve them before any one else retrieve them and had thier 10 minutes of fame when calling the tabloids. Please praise the hero for the day! If that one script got leaked to a tabloid right now, I don’t think ‘New Moon’ would ever hit theaters in November! Praise the Hero!
    ~Rene’

  33. Morgan B responded:

:O Why is everyone blaming Anna. If no one has read Robert Pattinson landed the lead in Memoirs. Though it is odd they’re both in the film.
Why has no one looked at him and said anything. If anything I’d say he’s the more likely candidate. As his life is soooooo crazy.

  34. heartache29 responded:

I would like to comment on that last one by Rene. I totally agree with her on the fact that the person who found the script actually had enough sense to hand them in. Come on people we need to do the right thing. What comes around, goes around.

  35. jenb responded:

This is so crazy,it just makes me wonder how someone could have been so careless. I’m really glad the woman was honest and turned them into Summit. I’m pretty sure I would have done the same thing, once I got over the shock of finding such a thing in the garbage.

  36. Bella Swannabee responded:

Wow, I am very pleased with the way she acted. I would’ve fell to my knees and started worshiping it.
But honestly, why would anyone throw something so sacred, so special so priceless away in the trash were someone would find it?
    Strange…

  37. Jessica responded:

I would have turned them back in, because i am essentially a somewhat selfish person and would have read the script and then turned it in, thinking that there would b a reward.
