YAHOO MUSIC: TWILIGHT SOUNDTRACK STILL BREAKING RECORDS

Posted January 29th, 2009 By: 7 Comments »

Week Ending Jan. 25, 2009: Setting A Hot 100 Record

5. Various Artists, Twilight soundtrack, 33,000. The former #1 album inches up from #6 to #5. This is the album’s 12th straight week in the top 10. That’s the longest run in the top 10 for a theatrical movie soundtrack since 8 Mile had 14 weeks in the top 10 in 2002. That monster hit included four tracks by Eminem, including the Oscar-winning “Lose Yourself.” Twilight beats two soundtracks that had 11 weeks in the winners’ circle, Chicago and Juno. Paramore’s “Decode,” the big hit from Twilight, dips to #55 on Hot Digital Songs.

Twilight soundtrack, still going strong. Woohoo! I hope it helps each artist further their career. And due to it’s success, more musicians will want to be included on the New Moon soundtrack. Hopefully that means we will get a great mix of music for the New Moon movie.

What do you think of the Twilight soundtrack’s success? Do you think it’s only due to the movie? Or do you believe the music is why it has done so well?

I LOVE the soundtrack, had it not been apart of Twilight I may not have been introduced to some great songs. BUT had it not been apart of Twilight it still would have been great, I just wouldn’t of known that. I now know of Iron & Wine!!! Huge plus. I can’t wait for the NM soundtrack!!

My 3 year old, Manny, loves it too. I play it in the car. My favorites the Black Ghosts and Blue Foundation. Those songs are so different. Manny loves Muse and Rob. He yells, Mama, play Bob! He knows the name Rob, but cant pronounce it right, LOL!

the album was terrific-loved all the music, especially muse and blue foundation and PARAMORE-DECODE(the best)…….but i think the linkin park track did not belong there.
the music makes the movie-that’s y eveyone’s tolerating the movie, even though it’s a little different from the book.

I have it on my Ipod, set in the charger/speaker do-dad, and listen to it EVERYDAY during my morning routine. It’s better than Irish Spring, better than Columbian Roast, better than ammonium nitrate to WAKE ME UP, then put me in the right mood for my day, especially Rob’s songs, and Bella’s Lullaby at the end, mellow day, man, mellow day. Twilight exists and all is right with the world….
