MOVIE MISTAKES.COM: 43 MISTAKES IN THE TWILIGHT MOVIE

Posted January 1st, 2009 By: 48 Comments »

MOVIEMISTAKES.COM has 43 mistakes (contributed by fans) for the Twilight movie. Here are a few:

Revealing: When Bella is driving the truck away after she says she’s leaving Charlie to go to Phoenix; when Edward is going to get in the truck when he’s on the side of it, you can tell its a stunt double.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene when Edward and Billy pass each other in their cars and glare at each other, as Edward is pulling away in this shot you can catch a glimpse of the tops of the crews heads reflected in his back window.

Continuity: In the scene where Bella is in the hospital, when the camera is up close to her face, the breathing tubes are right by her eyes, but when the shot is far from her face, the tubes are sitting on her cheeks.

Visible crew/equipment: When Bella pulls up in her truck for her first day at Forks High, as the camera pans from her truck as she parks it into shot, you can see the camera and boom reflected in the triangular window.

Factual error: While getting ready to leave the school for the field trip, you can see the wording on the school bus. It reads’Wilamette Valley,” near where the movie was filmed in Oregon, instead of Forks, WA, where the movie is supposed to take place.

Other: When Jacob is sitting with Bella in her “new” truck at the beginning of the movie, if you look closely at Jacob’s forehead, you can see his wig line.

Did you notice these errors? I didn’t notice most of them. I can’t help but wonder if some of them were made due to the small budget. What do you think? If you have more errors to add, head over the MovieMistakes.com and add them.

  • Beware: I drive like a Cullen

I definitely think a majority of these could have been remedied with a slightly higher budget and more time to allow the director/editors to catch them.

  • emmy

When I saw the movie, I did notice immediately the continuity error with Bella’s oxygen tubing in the hospital. I also noticed the continuity errors in the “meadow scenes.”

Another one that wasn’t listed was Bella’s hair not being tucked into her coat when the wind blew it in the baseball scene.

But frankly I thought the noticeable lipstick on Edward was the biggest error. I hope they get that right in New Moon.

  • jenesme

The Prom scene at the end, is wrong also, because it doesn’t it set it up, for the lead in for book 2 like the books do. Jacob is suppose to dance with Bella at the dance. And Tyler was suppose to show up, at Bella’s house to pick her up.

  • Jessie

Ok i must be going crazy, not one movie mistake site posted this but in one of the cafeteria scenes when they pan the table where all of the Cullens are sitting, Emmett (Kellen Lutz) is chewing on something. As anyone who has read the book would know, Vampires don’t eat human food, they really don’t enjoy the taste of it so why he would be eating it is beyond my comprehension.

  • ClassyAliceCullen11796

I didnt noice it at all. I dont think it made that big of a difference, like the meadow sceene did. It just goes to show you, ppl are so critical. But they’d better not mess up the Werewolves, or I’m out. :)

  • Missy

I think most of those mistakes are lame and several aren’t even correct.

  • twilightfan14

I didn’t notice any of these. And even if I had, it wouldn’t have bothered me. Small budget and the editor was obviously rushing to get it ready by Nov. 21. No big deal. I’ve seen it 7 times now and I’m not looking for stuff like that. I’m watching the actors, not the buses or whatever.

  • In huh

this is the type of stuff that an appropriate director would prevent. It has nothing to I with a low budget it comes down to poor planning and a sorry eye for detail. Ding dong catherine is gone

  • Susan

I hadn’t seen most of these, but I noticed that in the cafeteria scene, Rosalie puts a carrot in her mouth. They aren’t supposed to eat! They don’t even touch the food in the book…

  • maggie

yeah, they eat in the movie. but if you pay attention in the book twilight, or you read midnight sun, edward takes a bite of pizza. in midnight sun he thinks to himself that he will have to regurgitate it later because he cannot digest it. so it’s really not a mistake that they were eating in the movie, merely just an add-in.

  • (:

the only one i noticed was the contacts when there in the biology lab the contacts rob is wearing are soooo obvious but nothing is perfect. (:

  • Tifany

I know that there a lot of errors in the Twilight film, but its low budget. I consider it a great movie considering the circumstances, and if you’re paying attention to details like that, then why are you even watching the film instead of enjoying the story of the film. I didn’t know films were made to criticize minor details by those who aren’t even in the film industry. I thought films were made to entertain fans such as ourselves. If you don’t appreciate it then play the “perfect” version of the film in your mind. Simple as that.
The film may not have been perfect, but hey! It made a bunch of money and people still went to go see it more than once.
Maybe with the new director (but I must say, if he decides to have Jacob replaced that will be the biggest error of all. I’d rather have Catherine’s small errors than huge one of having an important character like Jacob replaced.)you’ll pleased and will have nothing to complain about. Well maybe except for the fact that the actors do have body functions that they can’t control…lets say like a heart beat or the need to breathe. For those of you who are picky, I’m sorry, but that is going to happen. No live person can play the role of a dead person perfect, and being dead…literally they can’t play the role at all. Come on guys…seriously!
As for Jessie’s or anyone else’s remark of Emmet chewing, anyone who has read all the books know that the Cullen’s try to act as human as possible. Also, in the books when Edward is having lunch with Bella he takes a bite of pizza. At Stephanie Meyer’s website for the draft of Midnight Sun it explains that when the vampires do eat human food, they have to extract it by making it “come up”. Edward had to do that when he took a bite of that pizza.

  • joebob1776

I read all of these and printed them out then went to the movies on December 12th with my twilighter friend and we tried to find them. I think we found maybe 1/4 of them. I think some people who don’t like twilight or some super sour harry potter fans (no offense) that don’t like twilight for taking their spot went onto moviemistakes and posted some just for the fun of it. Some errors were real but you can’t blame anyone. Summit was a relatively unknown company. If, lets just say, Disney (as much as i dont like disney) would have done this movie and ruined it, it probably would have been error free! :D but, all in all, the movie was brilliant.

  • BellaMarie

    another one is,
when bella goes over to edwards place for the first
time, and then he jumps out the window,
at one part when hes climbing up the tree
    and bellas lullaby starts playing,
you can see something, i think a camera
    moving up another tree.

  • Simona

I think they’re way out of line…especially those who point out that Rob’s heartbeat shows or that his breath is visible in the meadow scene…what were they supposed to do? Kill him to make the scene more real??? He’s human, for heaven’s sake, he’s an actor, not an actual vampire!

  • dinogrrl

I think it is interesting to note that there were 72 mistakes in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull which had a budget of $185 million. And there are many more examples. Perhaps low budget is not the culprit.

  • AllisCullen

Glad to see that someone else noticed Kristen was wearing knee pads when she slipped on the ice, in front of Bella’s house!!!!

    WOOT!!!! Vindication is SWEET!!! lol

  • Tracy

I have seen the movie eight times but I noticed from the very first one that the morning Bella slips on the ice outside the house Charlie was supposed to be the one driving the truck but the shot they used was clearly Bella.

I also noticed Edward flipping off Emmett. Something that Rob would do but definitely not Edward. :)

  • http://twilighters-anonymous.piczo.com Lisa

I didn’t really notice some of the mistakes, but the bus one I noticed durring the movie, i did notice they were eating, but it didn’t bother me.

  • Sara

If someone wants to spend all their time looking for them, he or she can find “errors” in every movie. It doesn’t matter to me nor do I spend my time looking for tucked in hair or wig lines or contact outlines. I watched the movie purely because of how much I enjoyed the book. The movie was amazing and so what if there are “mistakes” according to some people. We are human after all and I don’t know any human that hasn’t made mistakes. Why should the movie business be any different?

  • Kim

I think the movie was rushed and obviously not well directed or most of these flaws wouldn’t have happened. Like when Bella and Charlie are talking in the kitchen and Bella fills a glass with tap water, when there’s an open case of bottled water sitting on the counter…why? I say poor direction.

  • Caitlin

You can see their contacts clearly, Bellas tube things when she’s in the hospital are messed, gym is last period (!!), how can Billy be driving?? He’s handicapped!, sometimes you can hear Rob’s accent but whatever, in the baceball scene when Emmett and Edward crash Edward flips off Emmett and i know that’s not an error thingy but whatever, the vamps are always chewing gum and it annoys me, at lunch Rosaile eats a carrot or something and vamps don’t eat, when Edward stops the truck from hitting Bella he just like jumps right over the truck after and no one seems to notice him… hmmmm, and i agree that this is what you get when it’s a low budget movie.

  • maggie

every time i went to see twilight, i didn’t go to point out mistakes. of course there will be errors, but there are in most movies. i wasn’t looking for the cameras or the crew members at all. i was looking at how it compared to the book. i really loved it, not as much as the book, but it was a good movie. for me, this is more important than the flaws that cartherine hardwicke and the editors did not catch.

  • amanda

wow how sad r these ppl..looking for mistakes in Twilight!!!!! i didnt notice any of these “Mistakes”..and if i would have i wouldnt even care. i went to c Twilight.. i was not looking for “mistakes” only someone who is really bored would go and do tht!!!!! and yes it was a low budget movie but it was still Amazingggg!!!!!!!

  • Ash

The only error that bugged me was in the credits: “Emmett” is spelled “Emmet”. This could have easily been avoided by looking through the book. :P

  • ally

Noticing errors is wrong? It’s fine if there are noticable errors? It’s mean of ppl to expect continuity and notice mistakes?

That is ridiculous. If you think that way then never criticize anything in a movie yourself, or you’re guilty of not going to the movie to enjoy the story.

  • http://twilightersanonymous.com/movie-mistakes-forty-three-mistakes-twilight-movie.html Twilighter

Yeah, some of that stuff is true, but it doesn’t bother me. I think the movie did well with such a low budget. One other clear mistake is:

When Bella is asking Edward about his eyes changing colours, and he is wearing the grey t shirt, you can easily see the massive sweat marks underneath his arms.
You can also see him sweating in other scenes but this one is the most.

Although i can’t blame him, he is only human.

  • Rosy

i agree with Jessie, it was a huge part of the book they screwed up. Bella notices that they don’t eat the food, don’t even touch it, and yet Emmett (hott!!) is chewing. But to be honest all of these mistakes didn’t really bother cause i thought the movie was great

    • Megan

thats funny u say that idk if u saw the comentary but rob says that in that scean he was tellin him that ur not sapose to eat the food

  • eln

Geez, if everyone is going to nit pic the movie…why bother even admitting you seen it. Movies are not PERFECT. At least if followed the movie to a greater degree than many movies based on books. I have seen it several times, plan to see it as often as I can….I love the books, love the movie, love Stephanie and ever actor/actress that made the movie a smash….so get off the mistakes. We are HUMAN, and not one person has ever been able to say they are “mistake free”!! A $37 millinion budget and &237 million at the box office….must have been doing something right!!

  • Dont be haten!

there are vehicles that allow handicapped people to drive,

  • montymom

I’m SO sick of “reading” that twilight was a “GREAT” movie!! PEOPLE PLEEEEEEAAASSEE!!! It was NOT a “GREAT” movie!! The quality was VERY poor…!! It was just FUN to see the characters we’ve come to know and love COME TO LIFE on the big screen!! If we don’t start DEMANDING a better quality film then we’ll NEVER get one!! Don’t be SATISFIED with the quality of TWILIGHT!!!! It SUCKED for God’s sake!! It’s FUN and Entertaining, but “GREAT”??? NO WAY!!!

  • bella

JEEZE PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION TO THE BOOK!!!!! EDWARD EATS IN TWILIGHT!!!! CHECK IT OUT IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE ME!!!!!!

  • Nicole

    Hey,
I am totally with TA i think most of these are things that will happen because it is a low budget film…
Sure a lot of the things where ther are crew in the shot that shouldn’t be probably shouldn’t have been overlooked… but like a said it was a low budget film and it takes money to edit scenes…
    xoxo Nicole

  • Courtney

wow. those were so freaking stupid. a lot of those “errors” were pointless like really who cares? Edward totally takes a bite of pizza in Twilight b/c Bella asked if they could eat human food.

  • yessica

i found another one about 2:13 seconds into the movie you see a close up on bella`s face in charlies car, well in the car windoe you can see what looks like a little camera.
    CHECK IT OUT

  • faye

in th cafeteria scene, wherein bella sat with the group for the first time, she got soda a sort of sandwhich or somethign liek that in the tray but when she started talking about… eating disorder, she has green stalk somethign in her hand and she’s eating it.. actually, it was jessica’s food.. i noticd that jessica has that food in hr tray. how come bella’s eating jessica’s food. they arent that friends yet… next is… when edward introduced himself to charlie in the house, then camera shot was cut to charlie… medium shot… its obviosu that charlie did a hand shake gesture to edward… heller.. edward has cold hands.. hes supposed to be careful touchign soembodys hands especially those who doesn;t know their secret…

  • http://www.myspace.com/snoopyiisdashiizmaan__x [email protected]

    get over the mistakes!
the movie was great, and mistakes dont matter!
who cares if you can see him breathe or whatever.
and they probably eat because otherwise people would be like wtf because they dont eat.
in breaking dawn edward gets down a whole serving of cake.
    so get over it!

  • CBlizz

Okay if any of you knew anything about movies you would realize that movies based on books have to be cut down for time. So all of these “mistakes” aren’t mistakes at all but ways to cut down the movie so that the most important information is shown. Unimportant information such as, Tyler going to pick Bella up for prom at her house(even though in the movie he never even asked her to prom)just aren’t worth the time it would take to film. They needed to make the movie a reasonable length for movie goers they got the point across that’s all that matters. Although I would love to watch the movie as I had pictured it as I read it, its impossible cause no one imagines it the same way as another. But hey if the ever did make a movie that had every detail that the book had I would love to see twilight redone but no one has the time for that.
also to all those critics I found at least one mistake in all of your writing; try not to be a hypocrite

  • http://google? Hmmm

okay..as a kid i remembered that vampires couldnt be seen in a mirror..that they dont have a reflection or sumthin?lol

both edward and james had a reflection in that gallery…are they not vampires?..

  • Ammy

I admit the quality of the movie wasn’t that good; but I love the book still!
I caught that one mistake in the mountain scene.
Edward unbuttons his shirt to show Bella what’s he like, and when the shot changes; his shirt is all buttoned up again.

    and this is to “Hmmm”
These are not your average vampires here! My goodness. Read the books! Just because that’s been the “norm” for vampires, doesn’t mean everyone has to write stories like that! Of course they’re vampires!

  • lovE

No one has mentioned the scene where James is about to film Bella and she tells him to leave Edward out of it. The words she is speaking don’t match her mouth.

  • Becka

To tell you the truth,I didn’t notice all of the mistakes. I did notice how different the movie was from the book. Like how Bella learned about vampires from a book when it was Jacob that told her the story. The Cullens were staring at Bella in the cafeteria when the books says that they are staring off in different locations. Instead of taking a hike to the meadow on a Saturday, in the movie they just leave school grounds. James doesn’t look anything like his description, he is supposed to have dark hair. Didn’t anyone see these mistakes?

  • http://yahoo.com savanna (#1twilight fan)

idk but all i know is I LOVE TWILIGHT

  • trina!

no one has said anything about the baseball scene, there is a bit just after bellas calls rose out and rose stands up and stares at bella, you can see Carlisle’s stunt man instead of peter F!

  • Taylot Rentmaster

the scene where bella says “do you have to be dying to become like you?” and then the conversation goes on, it is raining outside and their hair is wet, then in the next shot it is not raining anymore and their hair is perfect again.

    • Kaitlyns123

Also, edwards hair is wet but bellas is dry in the scene with the rain

  • Laura

When Bella goes to Port Angeles to get the book, when she leaves her friends at the dress shop, she picks up her bag, she had the bag at the book store and when Edward rescues Bella from the thugs she runs into after the book store, I do not see her bag, but when Bella and Edward meet Bella's friends at the restaurant she has her bag, then on the way home, Bella and Edward stop at the police station, Bella does not have her bag when she tells Edward she will see him the next day, then she has her bag and new book later that night at home.
