Mackenzie Foy to Play Renesmee in ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’

Though we had a bit of exciting news earlier in learning that Maggie Grace will be joining the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn cast in the role of Irina, we now have some more news to share. According to Entertainment Weekly, newcomer Mackenzie Foy is just moments away from officially signing on in the role of Renesmee Cullen. Details below:

EW.com has learned that little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.

Summit Entertainment is remaining mum on the issue.

    That last bit that explains how they might use some sort of CGI to make her look more like a toddler makes sense! and if they do that, she’s perfect! though they will need two more kids, one to blend with this girl in the Second Part of BD for 2012, and a baby for the scenes of a just days old Renesmee for the first part…

      In the BD pt 1 they show a older Renesmee, and with Jacob imprinting on her they are together, it would look weird for Jacob to be with a little girl and not to be with a girl his own age.

    All my friends call me Renesmee because i seriously look like what Edward And Bella’s kid would look like. I personally think i would have been a perfect fit. Plus, i know Taylor Lautner sooooo…… yea.

    I don’t like the idea that they plan to age her character to age of 17. That’s not in the book. She only ages to 5 or 6 in the book. So I hope breaking dawn won’t be a disappointment. They better not go off the deep end by adding so much story that isn’t in the book. The story ios great just the way it was written.

    Renesmee does not age 17 years in the book, she ages at most 3-4 years so I really hope they don’t totally go off script when making the movie.

    The girls pretty no doubt about it….
    But the question is is she Renesmee pretty. According to the book she is drop DEAD gorgeous. Although that is simply my opinion. :)
    P.S. I have no hard feelings toward that girl as I said she is very pretty.

    I do hope renesmee is going to be Jabob’s age in BD-2 cuz I think it would be weird for Jacob to be in love with a little girl, now if they have 3 Renesmee’s that would be different to show the aging stages.
