A Quick Primer on Robert Pattinson in ‘Water for Elephants’

Posted April 22nd, 2011 By: Evie 5 Comments »

Vanity Fair has a rather funny, tongue-in-cheek question and answer session where they think up some questions regarding Robert Pattinson and his role in Water for Elephants and then give the answers to those questions. While very silly, it’s still a fun read before you head to theatres this weekend to see Rob in Water for Elephants. Read more below:

Q: Who does Robert Pattinson play in Water for Elephants?

A: Pattinson plays a character named Jacob.

Q: I think you’re confused. Taylor Lautner is the actor who plays Jacob.

A: Taylor Lautner plays Jacob Black in the Twilight movies. Robert Pattinson plays Jacob Jankowski in Water for Elephants.

Q: Does Robert Pattinson have any special powers in Water for Elephants? Like Edward from Twilight?

A: In Water for Elephants, Robert Pattinson’s character has the power to heal animals.

Q: Oh, so Robert Pattinson plays some sort of warlock or sorcerer?

A: He plays a veterinarian.

Q: I’m having a hard time asking questions about a Robert Pattinson character named Jacob. Would it be O.K. if I referred to his character as Edward from this point forward?

A: No, it wouldn’t.

Q: Do Jacob and Marlena fall in love?

A: To the dismay of August, yes.

Q: So would it be safe to say that Marlena is officially on “Team Jacob.”

A: Seriously, stop. How do I make you stop?!

Ahh, I am still laughing!

ReelzChannel has put together a cute little video of clips from many of the movies that Robert Pattinson has been in throughout his career so far. They start out with Vanity Fair - the clip with Reese Witherspoon that was actually cut out of the theatrical release and then go to Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King (not his voice), Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, How to Be, Little Ashes, Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Remember Me. Check out the video below:

We take a look at Robert Pattinson’s career leading up to Water for Elephants

I must say that Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King hair on Rob was not such a great look, and I definitely prefer his real voice. They skipped a couple of roles as well, like Rob’s role in The Bad Mother’s Handbook and The Haunted Airman, but still a fun video of little clips of Rob’s roles. On to Water for Elephants and Breaking Dawn!

What did you think of this review of Rob’s career? Have you seen them all?

Robert Pattinson talks to us about his fight scenes and working with Reese Witherspoon

It seems like Rob is getting good at getting beaten up in some of these roles. His character in Remember Me took quite the beating as well if I remember right. It’s pretty funny that Reese didn’t remember that Vanity Fair scene with Rob all these years later, but then again it was quite awhile ago.

Robert Pattinson Covers Italian Vanity Fair

Posted March 30th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

Not only is Robert Pattinson covering the current issue of Vanity Fair in the United States, but now he’s appearing on the cover of the Italian Vanity Fair as well. Included with the issue is a lengthy interview with the actor who talks a great deal about what draws him into a script, Water for Elephants and then gets into some personal issues, such as why he just doesn’t understand people who cheat. Check it all out below:

Could you ever have a relationship with a married woman?

“Life is not black and white. There are married couples that never see each other. Is that marriage? But there’s a thing I’ve never got, that is why do people cheat?”

You can’t understand a behavior which is typical of the majority of people nowadays.

“I can understand the impulse, but not how you can keep two relationship going at the same time for long. This usually happens to people with children, but I can’t really get why a non-commitment guy would choose to date four girls at the same time either. It must be hell, especially for men”.

Why especially for men?

“I think it’s more complicated for men, because somehow they have to “provide for” their women. I’m not talking about money support, but about enthusiasm: they have to cultivate the relationship. Doing it with more women at the same time would be very hard, a real work.”

Are you saying that because you’ve already tried?

“I’m not the casual-affair kind of guy. If I choose to be with someone it’s because I really want it. When I have a relationship, I’m 100% into it. If I felt like seeing more women at once then I wouldn’t go around saying “this is my girlfriend”.

So you do not believe in cheating. And what about the until-death-us-do-part love, like the one in movies?

“My mother was 17 and my father was 25 when they met, they’re still together and look very happy. I’ve grown up believing that you can stay with the same person throughout your life.

Robert Pattinson on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ March 18th, 2011

Posted March 19th, 2011 By: Evie 2 Comments »

Last night Robert Pattinson appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ as he started to promote his new movie, Water for Elephants. As usual Rob had a great chat with Jay and spoke about his dad’s influence on becoming an actor, appearing on the cover of Vanity Fair with an alligator, his road trip from Los Angeles to New Orleans, working with Tai the elephant and more from the set of Water for Elephants. See it all below:

I have to say, this was classic Rob on Jay Leno. I absolutely love it when Rob does these appearances. Over all these years with Twilight, Rob just hasn’t changed in these interviews at all. He continues to just be the genuine person he’s been from the beginning. How sweet is it to hear Rob talk about his love for Tai the elephant?

What did you think of Rob’s appearance on Jay Leno?

Robert Pattinson Sings the Blues for Vanity Fair

Posted March 8th, 2011 By: Evie 3 Comments »

Vanity Fair is sharing yet a little more from their photo shoot and interview with Robert Pattinson for the April issue of Vanity Fair. Here they have a great shot of Rob at the piano before talking about how he sat down to play with the world-famous Preservation Hall band in the French Quarter…. and fit right in. Read more below:

Sing us a song, piano man—let’s start with “Happy Birthday.” New Orleans’s Preservation Hall—where Annie Leibovitz shot young Robert Pattinson, shown tickling the ol’ 88 with the world-famous Preservation Hall band—celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Situated in the French Quarter, the music venue is one of the country’s most hallowed: it was founded in 1961 for the purpose of preserving New Orleans–style jazz, and indigenous American music. On his first-ever visit to the Quarter, Pattinson jammed with the house band and thoroughly held his own—his celebrity perhaps subsumed by that of the musicians, whose legendary status awed everyone on set. “When we first started, none of us knew that Robert really does play piano,” says Ben Jaffe, the tuba player (center, above), the band’s director, and the son of the venue’s founders. “But when he got up there, he started ticking out these notes, and it was obvious he wasn’t just tinkling—he really knew how to play.” Though the musicians were expecting the actor to just pose, Pattinson gamely jammed along with their tunes. After finishing a song, he leaned over to Jaffe “and said, ‘That’s the first time I’ve played with a group of guys like that,’” Jaffe recalls. Not a shabby gig—especially with Jaffe’s homemade red beans and rice waiting as reward.
