Taylor Lautner Debuts on the “Celebrity 100″ at Forbes and Robert Pattinson is Bumped Off the List

Posted May 15th, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

Last year Muse, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Stephenie Meyer all made the 2011 “Celebrity 100″ List over at Forbes. This year, Taylor Lautner will be debuting on the 2012 “Celebrity 100″ List at Forbes for the first time, and in addition, he’ll be appearing on the list while Robert Pattinson will not. Why the filp with Rob and Taylor? It turns out that even though they earned the same amount of money in in the last 12 months, Taylor just had more buzz both on TV and online. I’m guessing all that clever marketing for Abduction? Read more below:

The annual list spotlights the celebs with the most money and fame from the worlds of movies, TV, sports, books and modelling. One of the biggest surprises this year: Taylor Lautner makes his debut while Robert Pattinson drops off the list.

Both Twilight stars earned the same amount of money over the last 12 months, $26.5 million. So how did Lautner beat Pattinson? Fame. Lautner simply garnered more press attention. Because Lautner had the film Abduction in theaters within the last 12 months in addition to Twilight: Breaking Dawn, he was in the press and on TV and the web more than Pattinson.

To compile our list we talk to dozens of agents, managers, producers, lawyers and other people in the know to come up with estimates for what each celebrity earned over the past 12 months. We don’t deduct for things like taxes, agent or manager fees.

We then combine that earnings number with a fame metric based on web hits, press mentions, TV and radio mentions, magazine covers and social networking prowess. The result is our Celebrity 100 power list.

You can read more at Forbes here, and be sure to check back at Forbes tomorrow at 12pm EST when the full list for 2012 will be unveiled live here.

Thanks Noor!

Really? A live unveiling of the list? I didn’t realize it was quite that big of a deal! I still can’t believe Rob isn’t on the list either. No way that will happen again next year with Cosmopolis making a big splash at Cannes!

What do you think of Taylor debuting on the list while Rob gets bumped off the list?

Carlisle Cullen Falls to #3 Spot in Forbes “Fictional 15″

Posted April 24th, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

Every year Forbes puts together a list of the richest fictional characters, and for the last three, the Twilight Saga’s Carlisle Cullen has been a part of that list. Back in 2010 Carlisle actually reigned #1 on the list, before falling to the #2 spot last year. Peter Facinelli joked around that due to Edward and Bella’s massive wedding it made sense that Carlisle’s riches would be depleted and he would lose his top spot. However this year the good Doctor has dropped one more spot, down to #3, thanks to some new additions. But really, who’s going to argue with Smaug the dragon from The Hobbit? Check out more below:

To qualify for the Fictional 15, we require that candidates be an authored fictional creation, a rule which excludes mythological and folkloric characters. They must star in a specific narrative work or series of works. And they must be known, both within their fictional universe and by their audience, for being rich.

Net worth estimates are based on an analysis of the fictional character’s source material, and where possible, valued against known real-world commodity and share price movements. In the case of privately held fictional concerns, we seek to identify comparable fictional public companies. All figures are as of market close, April 1, 2012.

Final valuations are calculated with a grain of salt, and a willingness to break our own rules.

3. Carlisle Cullen
Worth: $36.3 Billion

Source: Compound Interest, Investments

Residence: Forks, Wash.

Small-town doctor and immortal vampire is (non-)living proof of the miracle of compounding interest: small nest egg banked in 1670 has grown into one of fiction’s largest fortunes. Cullen’s youthful appearance belies 371 years of age and brilliant medical mind honed over centuries of night school. Undead monster with pronounced sentimental streak; gave second wife private Brazilian island for wedding gift. Passionate art collector prefers macabre scenes, nightscapes. Featured in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels and films.

Dr. Carlisle Cullen on List of “50 Richest Movie Characters”

Posted January 22nd, 2012 By: Evie 4 Comments »

Total Film has put together a list of the “50 Richest Movie Characters” and our Dr. Carlisle Cullen has made the cut at #41. Carlisle also made a similar list over at Forbes in the past, and he of course owes all his riches to the hundreds of years he’s been practicing medicine. (Plus probably some nice investment help from Alice.) Read more below:

41. Dr. Carlisle Cullen

Wealth: $59m

From: Medicine

As Seen In: The Twilight Saga (2008 – 2012)

Having worked for over 350 years as practitioner, Dr. Cullen has accumulated vast wealth – much of which has been spent on luxuries such as his Mercedes S55 AMG and stunning home located deep in the Washington countryside.

Read the full list over at Total Film here.

Really, I’m guessing if people actually considered the help Alice could give, Carlisle would go way up on the rich movie characters list!

What do you think of Total Film’s list and Carlisle’s spot on the list?

Thank you Rachel!! :)

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Top List of “Hollywood’s Best Actors for the Buck” at Forbes

Posted December 8th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

There doesn’t seem to be a celebrity list on Forbes that Twilight hasn’t become a part of anymore. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have landed on the list of “Hollywood’s Best Actors for the Buck”, with Kristen coming in at #1 and Rob at #3. Read more below for all of the details:

Hollywood’s Best Actors for the Buck

To compile our list we used information gathered for the Celebrity 100 to look at the last three non animation movies each actor starred in over that last three years. We added each actor’s upfront and backend pay on all three movies to come up with a total compensation number. We then added up the operating income of the three movies to come up with a total operating income number and then divided total operating income by total compensation. Each return on investment number represents how much the studio is paid for every dollar invested in the star.

No. 1 Kristen Stewart
For every $1 Stewart is paid, her films earn an average $55.83.

Stewart tops our list thanks to her paydays for two Twilight movies: New Moon and Eclipse. She ranks higher than her costar Robert Pattinson (even though they earn the same amount on the films) because he has branched out more so only one of his Twilight films is eligible for this list.

No. 3 Robert Pattinson
For every $1 Pattinson is paid, his films earn an average $39.43.

The Twilight star ranks lower than Kristen Stewart because he’s been busy. Only one of his Twilight films, Eclipse, qualifies for the list. The other films we looked at for Pattinson were Water for Elephants and Remember Me.

Stephenie Meyer Remains on “World’s Highest-Paid Authors” List at Forbes

Posted August 17th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

Stephenie Meyer is back at Forbes, this time on a list for “World’s Highest-Paid Authors”. Despite not having written a new book this year, Stephenie has a strong fan base that has kept her at #5. Read more below:

The queen of the young adult segment, however, remains Stephenie Meyer, the stay-at-home mother from Arizona whose belated discovery of her talent for fiction has almost singlehandedly buoyed booksellers for the past few years. At one point, Meyer’s “Twilight” series accounted for more than 15 percent of all books sold in the U.S. In 2010, fans starved for fresh tales of vampire romance — the last “Twilight” installment came out in 2008 — snapped up some 2.3 million copies of a spin-off novella, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner,” and a movie version of “Eclipse” took in $300 million at the U.S. box office and almost $400 million overseas. All told, Meyer earned $21 million — a major step down from her 2010 earnings of $41 million, but not bad for someone whose entire output during the Obama administration consists of a single 192-page volume.

Robert Pattinson Makes “Highest-Earning Actors” List at Forbes

Posted August 3rd, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

Just like his costar Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson has landed on a new list at Forbes, this time for “Highest-Earning Actors”. Rob ties fellow actors Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig and Jim Carrey at number ten. Read more below:

Robert Pattinson

$20 million

The Twilight star branched out recently with Water for Elephants, which costarred Reese Witherspoon. The film did OK but its box office was a drop in the bucket compared to the Twilight films. With two movies left, expect Pattinson to keep earning big for the next two years.

Will any film ever be like The Twilight Saga? Seriously what do they expect? I’d say Rob is doing just fine.

What do you think of Rob’s spot on this list from Forbes? Did you expect him to be higher or lower on the list?

Kristen Stewart on the “Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actresses List” at Forbes

Posted July 8th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

Kristen Stewart is back on a list for Forbes, this time making “Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actresses List”. Kristen comes in at number six, thanks in large part to her work on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Read more below:

Kristen Stewart, $20 million

Stewart’s non-Twilight career hasn’t been as successful as her co-star Robert Pattinson’s so far. Her 2010 film The Runaways grossed only $4.6 million at the global box office. But the two-part Breaking Dawn should bring her enough money to play around with different roles while looking for her next big hit. Stewart is attached to one of two Snow White projects currently in development.
