Five Reasons to Be Excited for ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 2′

Posted June 21st, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

The brand new teaser trailer for Breaking Dawn - Part 2, definitely had us on the edge of our seats yesterday, giving us a tiny little glimpse of everything we want to see more of - Renesmee, new vampires with new powers, and of course the ominous Volturi. Here Next Movie has their top five reasons why the teaser trailer has us all psyched up for November. Read more below:

1. Bella Warrior:

At the tail end of the teaser as she’s lined up with her family and new friends, Bella (Kristen Stewart), watches as the immense Volturi guard descends upon the Forks clearing with a mean mug so fierce even we were shivering in our boots a little. Bella as a badass warrior vampire, finally? We’ve been waiting for that for four years now.

2. New Vampires:

Incoming! There are about two dozen new vampires tacking onto the “Twilight” cast list for “Part 2,” and the teaser trailer gave some blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpses at just about every blimey one of ‘em. Some of the more enthralling new vamp flashes include Joe Anderson as the secluded and scruffy wanderer vamp Alistair, Lee Pace as the nomadic hottie Garrett and Judi Shekoni as the über-talented wild one from the Amazon, Zafrina. As Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black puts it, “Lotta red eyes around here.” Just the way we like it. More, more, more!

3. The Return of Aro:

Once Michael Sheen traded in his wolfy “Underworld” garbs for the graduation gowns Volturi capes in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” we were hooked. He’s now a staple of our “Twilight” experience. We missed him in “Eclipse” and sure wished there was more of him in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1,” but the new teaser more than makes up for all the Aro we’ve been missing. “Oh my,” he says, as only Michael Sheen can. Gotta love his campy evilness.

Judi Shekoni on WhoSay

New Host Reeeeeeeel :)

I thought the sky diving was gutsy, it takes some major guts to sky dive with a camera crew. I think I’d be too busy screaming to act all poised for the camera. Then she goes on to go on roller coasters, drive race cars and even try snowboarding. That girl has an awesome sense of adventure!

What did you think of Judi’s reel? Would you do any of those activities from the video in front of a camera crew?

Judi Shekoni Shares her Love for Zafrina in ‘Breaking Dawn’

Posted July 1st, 2011 By: Evie 1 Comment »

The beautiful Judi Shekoni recently took time to chat with The Creative Pop Culture Community about her feelings on being a part of Breaking Dawn, and why she loves her character Zafrina so much. Read more after the cut:

What are some characteristics of Zafrina you like?

“She is strong and powerful, she also is in touch with nature. I have a deep respect to nature and the environment and so love playing a character that is so connected. I love her relationship with Senna as I feel that women do have a strong bond with each other and I like how they take care of each other. I think her special power is so exciting, I am very interested in the human mind and its capabilities so I am fascinated by her mental special powers and it gave me a chance to explore what it would be like to have it and how it would work. I also like her connection with the baby - as it shows her motherly instincts.”

All the loyal Twilight fans will be introduced to Zafrina, the Amazonian vampire that plays a crucial role in helping the Cullens to achieve safety from the Volturi. For those of you that do not enjoy spoilers, I will omit the major plot of the movie. With the power to project powerful images, she will prove to be a very likable and strong character.

Twilightish has a great new interview with the lovely Judi Shekoni who will be playing Zafrina of the Amazon coven in Breaking Dawn. Here Judi describes her experience filming Breaking Dawn, her previous days as a Twilighter and her favorite moment from her time filming. Read more below:

Twilightish: The Famous Fandom Question: Did you read the books or see the movies before you went for the part of Zafrina? If so, were you a fan of the series before?

Judi: I was already a big fan of Twilight. Waited for each book to be released, and read all four years ago. I knew about the project (film). I was a fan from the beginning when Kristen was announced as Bella. I love the series.

Twilightish: Zafrina is part of the Amazon clan with her two sisters, did you guys find instant chemistry on set?

Judi: I spent a lot of time working with Tracey Heggins (Senna), people even thought we were sisters in real life! We hung out in hotel rooms, went to lunch and dinner with each other, became inseparable during the course of filming. We still call or speak with each other now, we definitely bonded really well! Being part of a coven made you part of a team.

Twilightish: Zafrina possesses a special power, would you want her power in real life?

Judi: Everyone wants a power. I’d like to have her power in real life. It’s not something everyone can see outside of the person she’s doing it to.

Twilightish: Do you have a favorite moment from your time on set? Either on camera or off?

Judi: Squamish was my favorite place to shoot, it was beautiful outdoors. My best friend actually came to see me during the filming, she said “WOW it looks just like you’d imagine Forks. Peaceful. Tranquil.

Judi Shekoni Talks Working with Mackenzie Foy and Playing Zafrina in ‘Breaking Dawn’

Posted April 12th, 2011 By: Evie 1 Comment »

Team-Twilight has a fantastic new interview with the beautiful Judi Shekoni, who will be playing Zafrina in the upcoming Breaking Dawn. Judi discusses everything from auditioning for the role of Zafrina to bringing the character to life and working closely with Mackenzie Foy. Judi also goes on to talk about her other current projects and what she’s looking forward to. Check it all out below:

TT: You really kind of embody what people expect from Zafrina. Does that put a lot of pressure on you for the role?

JS: Well, not now I’ve nearly finished shooting. Maybe if I’d known it before. I think this is probably the best time for us to have this conversation. That’s amazing. I really do think – because obviously I’ve read the books and I saw the movie – and I’m kind of into the esoteric spirituality thing, and the character is so similar to me, you know physically and even a lot of the characteristics I feel like I embody. I was just blessed with, you know, it kind of aligned. When I read it, I was like, “Wow this is kind of similar,” and then to go in on it, I felt like I definitely had a lot of the characteristics. Hopefully they all carry through on screen and I kind of achieve everything that people expect and want. It is a great character and I am in love with her.

TT: Your character has a lot of interaction with Renesmee. Have you spent much time with Mackenzie [Foy]?

JS: I have, yeah, and she’s so lovely, such an amazing child. Like when I have children, I want them to be like her, just so well brought up. And that’s pretty much the consensus of everywhere and everyone, just saying what a well brought up, polite girl that she is. And very mature, as well, for her age. She’s super lovely, and it’s great, the relationship that they [Zafrina and Renesmee] have in the book is very strong and powerful and I hope that it carries across on screen.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Star Judi Shekoni Talks About Her Role As Zafrina

Posted April 6th, 2011 By: Team Switzerland No Comments »

Thanks to lovely Twilight Examiner, we have a great new interview today with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn star Judi Shekoni, who plays the role of Amazon Coven member Zafrina in the highly anticipated last installments in the Twilight Saga film franchise. In the new interview Judi discusses being a fan of the books prior to being cast, how her experience has been with director Bill Condon, bonding with cast members like Tracey Heggins and Amadou Ly, and much more. Check out a glimpse below:

Did being a fan make auditioning for the role that much more intimidating or was it easier because you had confidence in your knowledge of the story?
I felt more confident than usual because of my knowledge of the story and the characters; Twilight has a definite feel and style to it that would be hard to pick up from one scene. I felt I was already inside the world and had lived the lives so I definitely felt I had a good advantage!

How has your experience been working with Bill Condon?
He is so amazing, such a kind, considerate, and intelligent man. I have learned so much from him, and it has been one of the highlights of working on this film. His attention to detail is incredible and I am lucky to have him working on this film as he has such a strong vision for the Amazons so we had a lot to play and got to take some risks. He also has a great sense of humor and is not easily stressed so it was a really fun set to work on - laughing was permitted - so we took advantage of it!
