‘Twilight’, ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ Top List of 2012 Baby Names

Posted April 13th, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

It looks like the popularity of particular books and movies are continuing to influence expecting parents when they choose a baby name these days. Some of the most popular baby names, and those quickly rising in popularity can definitely be traced to the latest in pop culture. The current top names can be traced to Twilight, The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, and Pretty Little Liars. In fact, currently the top two names are Isabella and Jacob. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Check out more from Clevver TV and Name Berry below:

Check out all of the latest baby names over at Name Berry.com here.

Thanks Noor!

Quite honestly my daughter came pretty close to becoming Éowyn from The Lord of the Rings. I was pretty set on that name for a daughter long before I ever even thought about having kids. She didn’t end up an Éowyn, and her given name definitely suits her, but it was a close one. I think if a certain author or character resonates with you and sticks with you in life, there can be some real meaning in giving that name to a baby. On the other hand, if it’s just a passing fade and you end up not even caring about that character, book or movie a few months later… perhaps you should have thought longer on your baby name!

What do you think of naming your children from characters in books and movies that you love?

The Score for ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 1′ Has Been Recorded!

Posted September 16th, 2011 By: Evie 1 Comment »

Jack Morrissey, ever the best source of information in the world for Breaking Dawn movie information, was back on twitter today. Jack is as you know, Bill Condon’s partner, and was with Bill and Breaking Dawn composer Carter Burwell as they went to work getting the score recorded for Breaking Dawn - Part 1. Jack’s exciting news today was that the score has now been recorded! He goes on to tell us that the score was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios and some rather famous Twilight friends even stopped by to say hello to Carter Burwell. Check it all out after the jump:

Studio 1, where all the aforementioned scores were recorded, minutes prior to the last session on Tuesday evening.

Two morsels for Friday: *The score is recorded. *I thought you’d be interested in hearing that NEW MOON composer Alexandre Desplat and ECLIPSE composer Howard Shore both happened to be in London this week and stopped by to visit TWILIGHT and BD composer Carter Burwell. *Lastly — for the moment, anyway — the score was recorded at historic Abbey Road Studios (http://www.abbeyroad.com/) Still owned by the Beatles. All six STAR WARS scores were recorded there, as were all three LORD OF THE RINGS scores (also by Howard Shore), and at least HARRY POTTER 7

MTV ‘After Hours’: “Geeks or Posers” with Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser

Posted July 30th, 2011 By: Evie 1 Comment »

In a brand new After Hours with Josh Horowitz, some stars of Comic Con are put to the test of their Geek knowledge. Among the stars quizzed are Taylor Lautner, Elizabeth Reaser and Nikki Reed. Check it all out below:

Ahhhh, Comic-Con! It’s a place for movie gossip, a place for celebrity sightings and, of course, a place for seeing full-grown adults dressed up in spandex superhero suits without so much as a hint of embarrassment. But, above all, it is a place for GEEKS. Which is why, when MTV News’ Josh Horowitz got a few good famous people to sit down with him for our latest After Hours, we put them to the test with a little Game of Geekery. Which “Twilight” star knows his Tolkien Trivia? Which sultry starlets are secret nerds? Can’t anyone do a decent impression of Yoda anymore?! Find out, in….”GEEKS! OR! POSERS!”

Things get off to a sad start when Josh asks his assembled guests to begin by naming Elijah Wood’s character in “Lord of the Rings.” Amanda Seyfried stutters, “It’s, uh… y’know. That guy?” before giving up. And Elizabeth Reaser and Nikki Reed look like a pair of deer in the headlights as they each look to each other for help. Bzzzzt! Posers! Deer-lookin’ posers!!!

But don’t worry, there’s still a geek or two lurking in the “Twilight” cast: Taylor Lautner nails the answer (which is “Frodo,” by the way) like a boss…although he quickly shames himself on a question about the definition of “manga.” (And no, Nikki and Elizabeth, it is not a fruit. GEEZ, you guys!)

Update on Kristen Stewart as ‘Snow White’

Posted March 4th, 2011 By: Evie 4 Comments »

We’re hearing a bit of an update in regards to Kristen Stewart and the role of Snow White. According to tweets from producer, Palek Patel, Kristen is in final negotiations for the role in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. Here, both Deadline New York and The Wrap are bringing us more about this breaking story. Read more below:

From Deadline New York:

Deadline was first to tell you in January that despite Universal Pictures’ testing of young actresses, Twilight Saga’s Kristen Stewart had materialized as a likely candidate to play the lead role in the Rupert Sanders-directed Snow White and the Hunstman. Now, Palek Patel, who’s producing with Joe Roth, has tweeted that she’s in final negotiations to star with Charlize Theron and Viggo Mortensen in the rebooted fairy tale that’s going head to head with Relativity Media’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, which will star Julia Roberts.

Read more at Deadline here.

From The Wrap:

Kristen Stewart looks set to take on the role of Snow White in Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman,” according to producer Palek Patel’s Twitter page.

Responding to Kristin Stewart News, Patel wrote, “@kstewartnews We start shooting Snow White & The Huntsman on August 1st in London, Scotland, & Germany!!”

Universal could not confirm to TheWrap that the “Twilight Saga” actress is going to appear in this version of the “Snow White” story.

The movie, based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, focuses on the Huntsman, a character who is supposed to kill Snow White but ends up protecting her, mentoring her and teaching her how to fight and survive.

Read more at The Wrap here.

I can’t wait, I think Kristen would make the perfect Snow White. In addition, Viggo would make a perfect Huntsman, I’ve loved him since his days of being Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings. Kristen and Viggo already know each other from On the Road as well!

Are you excited it sounds like Kristen Stewart will be playing Snow White?

Would You Read ‘The Twilight Saga’ from the Perspective of the Volturi?

Posted February 17th, 2011 By: Evie 18 Comments »

MTV has an interesting article that is actually looking at a re-telling of The Lord of the Rings, from the side of Mordor. It seems one Russian author felt the perspective needed to be told back in 1999 and the book has recently gotten an English translation. Now what does this have to do with Twilight? MTV decided to sit down and think of all of the stories they’d like to read or see from the perspective of the bad guys and Twilight is a top choice. Read more below:

“The Twilight Saga”

This one might already be on the way from author Stephenie Meyer, but fans have been clamoring to learn more about the “Twilight” royal baddies the Volturi since they were first introduced into the saga. Plus, we can’t turn down any extra Michael Sheen.

Read the full article at MTV here.

In reality, this is an awesome idea. There is so much backstory and history with the Volturi that they could really be their own separate story. There is love, drama, betrayal - all the elements of an incredible story that could meet up with the Edward and Bella storyline. Here’s to hoping Stephenie Meyer might someday consider it!

What do you think? Would you be interested in a story on the Volturi or the story told from their perspective?
