Billboard’s Chart Beat Meet & Greet with ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 1′ Soundtrack Artist Christina Perri

Posted March 7th, 2012 By: Evie 2 Comments »

Billboard has a new interview with the lovely Christina Perri, songwriter and singer of ‘A Thousand Years’ from the Breaking Dawn - Part 1 soundtrack. Christina gives us more details on how exactly she ended up on the soundtrack, and what it was like to receive the news that her song was to be included. Check it all out below:

I got involved with ‘Twilight’ in kind of a magical way,” says Christina Perri.

“I’ve been a big fan for years and when I signed a record deal with Atlantic Records, they were doing the writing for ‘Breaking Dawn’,” the 25 year-old Philadelphia-born singer/songwriter recalls. “They asked me to come in and screen the movie and then write something.

“They were going to give me a shot because they knew what a big fan I was,” Perri says.

“So, I saw the movie in this little screening room with, like, all these super-Hollywood-y dudes on their Blackberries not watching … and I’m in the front row crying the whole time.

“I went straight home and wrote ‘A Thousand Years’.”

“I will never, ever forget this phone call I got. It was like, ‘You’ve been chosen for the soundtrack. You’ve been chosen for the single. You’re going to make a music video with clips from the movie and you’re going to go on tour with the cast,” Perri remembers.

“I couldn’t be more stoked. (‘Twilight’) is my favorite book, my favorite movie.

“I’m, like, super-happy over here.”

MyAnna Buring Talks ‘Breaking Dawn’, Tanya, and Why ‘Twilight’ Hits All the Right Notes

Posted March 4th, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

Entertainment.ie has a brand new interview with the absolutely gorgeous MyAnna Buring. MyAnna gives us a great glimpse of her casting experience, why she thinks Twilight is such a force, what we can expect from Tanya and the Denali Clan in Breaking Dawn - Part 2, plus much more. Read it all below:

So how did your part in the movie come about in the first place?

Well it was really straight forward actually. Basically I just got a call from LA, they had put out a casting call because they just couldn’t find the right fit for Tanya from what I can understand, and my manager here said ‘listen anyone can put themselves on tape so just go for it’, and it was very unlikely they’d see it but I’d do it anyway. I did it, it was a rushed job and I was actually on my way to shoot another film - Kill List - I hadn’t thought anymore of it and then two weeks later I got a call saying id gotten the job!

Deadly! You must have been a fan before to have auditioned for it?

Massive fan, yea. I read the books before first film came out and I loved them. I read them all in about a week and thought they were brilliant.

One week! I thought I was bad finishing Breaking Dawn in under 4 days. What is it about Twilight that you think has resonated around the world?

There’s a few things. For one there’s a heroine that people can really identify with, Bella. She’s a little bit clumsy and feels a bit awkward and an outsider and I think that is something a lot of people have felt at some point in their lives. And then the love story as well. I think we sort of are all fans of love really if you’re not then you’re too cynical aren’t you?

I’ll take your word for it so. Your role in part 1 of Breaking Dawn is quite small but we’ll be seeing more of you in the penultimate instalment?

Yea that’s right. Well obviously the Denalis are kind of more involved in the story in part 2. One of her sisters, Irina is the cause of why the Volturi are alerted to the existence of Renesmee. Tanya’s coven are the first to stand up and join forces against the Volturi with the Cullens and and Tanya is their leader, so yea, they play a slightly bigger part.

For the uninitiated, (shame on them) can you tell us a little more about the character you play?

Well Tanya Denali is the head of the Denalis. She’s a very old vampire who’s been around for thousands of years. She’s actually been described as being one of the original Succubi.

A Succi-whaty? This is getting awfully geeky now.

Essentially the Succubus is a mythical figure - who used to come in and cause trouble with innocent men.

Right, back to Tanya.

Tanya and her sisters have a bit of a back story. She also has a back story in that she has held a torch for Edward Cullen for hundreds of years, [he's only been around for 107, mind] and now with Bella on the scene, she believes that Bella is actually meant for him.

Thanks Noor!

I love MyAnna as Tanya, she’s perfect in the role. I’m excited to see more of her in Breaking Dawn - Part 2.

We’ve found some adorable Breaking Dawn fan art via DeviantArt, thanks to the extremely talented *sourcherry1. This awesome pencil drawing shows a brilliantly happy Edward and Bella snuggled together as they stare down adoringly at their little daughter, Renesmee. *Sourcherry1, we love your work!

Bella and Edward watching Renesme sleep

I think what I like most about this drawing is the pure joy that we see on both Edward and Bella’s faces. There is so much tension and drama throughout the entire Saga, it’s fun to see such a beautiful moment. The artist also really captured the absolute adoration that Bella and Edward feel for Renesmee, you can just see it in their postures and features!

Thank you Noor! (Via Twifans)

Kristen Stewart’s ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 1′ Wedding Dress in “20 Greatest Movie Dresses of All Time”

Posted March 2nd, 2012 By: Evie 1 Comment »

Marie Claire has put together a list of what they feel are the “20 Greatest Movie Dresses of All Time”, and included in that list is Kristen Stewart with her Breaking Dawn - Part 1 wedding dress. Check out more below:

Kristen Stewart, Breaking Dawn

We admit it: in our vampire-loving hearts, Bella Swan’s onscreen wedding dress was more exciting than Kate Middleton’s — and Pippa’s — real-life Royal Wedding ensemble combined. Designed by Carolina Herrera, Bella’s gown is a sleek creation of crepe satin, French Chantilly lace and 152 covered buttons with a cut-down-to-there keyhole back (the better to tempt her otherworldly guests with). The CH original comes with a hefty $35,000 price tag, but for you Twihards, the Alfred Angelo knock-off clocks in at just $799. (Just BYO Edward)

Amadou Ly Chats Briefly on His New Vampire Role in ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 2′

Posted February 25th, 2012 By: Evie 1 Comment »

Socialite Life caught up with several stars on the red carpet at Brits In LA Presents The 5th Annual Toscars earlier last week. Among the stars was new Breaking Dawn - Part 2 vampire, Amadou Ly. It sounds like Amadou will be playing a French vampire named Henri, who was written into the screenplay. However that little bit of information is all we know about his character. No other details, like which side his vampire would be on, could be drawn out of the actor, who instead promised that there would be lots of great surprise for the fans. Read the story below:

We adored talking to Breaking Dawn Part 2 star Amadou Ly, whose character, French vampire Henri was written into the screenplay. We asked if Henri was on the side of the Volturi or the Cullens, but that is being kept under wraps. “I would love to tell you,” Ly said with a smirk. Damn you, sir! ”We have a lot of great surprises for the fans.” Yay!!!!

See the full story at Socialite Life here.

Thanks Noor!

These new vampires are good at keeping all the details on their characters under wraps. It will be interesting to see what exactly this new character, Henri, will be doing, and if he’s good or evil.

What Women Want - Spotlight on Bella as the True Hero

Posted February 25th, 2012 By: Evie 3 Comments »

The third part, and conclusion, to “What Do Women Want” by Erika Christakis has been posted by the Huffington Post. While Part 1, focused more on Breaking Dawn and Bella, and Part 2 focused a little more on Edward and his relationship with Bella, this final piece really pulls the whole idea together and celebrates the character that Bella becomes by the end of Breaking Dawn. Bella manages to be the ultimate weapon and protects her family without any having to resort to any violence whatsoever. Read more below:

More than a few Twilight fans got in a lather about New Moon and Eclipse (movies two and three) because some of the overwrought conversations from the books were clipped in favor of jacked-up action scenes no one wanted to watch. A pivotal scene in which Edward apologizes ad nauseum for leaving Bella was reduced to the blink of an eye, denying the viewer the delicious spectacle of a backpedaling superhero. And Stephenie Meyer doesn’t even bother to stage the epic battle scene that the whole series has been building up to in Book Four; everybody just packs it up and works it out in with… you guessed it… talking.

And why, exactly, is this a problem? Shouldn’t we be embracing — or at least not wholesale eviscerating — a blockbuster series that espouses non-violence? I have yet to read a review of Twilight that recognizes the foundational truth of the story: that aggression is almost always the worst option, and that human life merits respect and forbearance. It’s easy to find this tacky or politically threatening; Stephenie Meyer has something to offend both ends of the ideological spectrum. But we needn’t be aligned with conservative religious teachings or lofty liberal pacifism to acknowledge the refreshing rarity of a successful movie franchise that rejects our great national love affair with violence.

Stephanie Meyer sure packs a hell of a punch without it. In a glorious sleight of hand, she makes sweet, gentle Bella the ultimate secret weapon against evil, protecting her whole clan with an uncanny feminine emotional power that’s kryptonite to a bunch of medieval vampire thugs. She becomes a true earth goddess, a Hestia of the vampire world, a warrior queen without the warfare. Take that, you hand-wringing scolds. Bella has the last laugh. As fantasies go, it’s a good one.

Wow! This author just really got “got” the whole series and why so many of us love it so much and are so captivated by it. Bravo!
