We’ve had the big DVD release of Breaking Dawn - Part 1 here in the US, but the rest of the world is still awaiting their turn. Meanwhile, several cast members were out promoting the DVD last week. Here Gil Birmingham and Tinsel Korey chat about the DVD release and their experience filming, including what it was like to have Stephenie Meyer on set. Then we also have an interview with another wolf pack member, Julia Jones. Julia also chats about the DVD release, as well as the exciting energy that surrounds the whole Twilight phenomenon. Check out the videos below:

Two of the stars of the “Twilight” movies visit Fox 10 on Wednesday — Gil Birmingham, who plays Billy Black, and Tinsel Korey, who plays Emily.

Jamaica Plain native Julie Jones, Leah Clearwater of the Wolfpack, joined VB at BHS to chat about the DVD/Blu-ray midnight release of Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” on February 11.

Create a ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 1′ DVD Viewing Party or Romantic Night In

Posted February 12th, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

I’m sure by now you’ve watched your brand new Breaking Dawn - Part 1 DVD at least once, probably at least twice. The question is, have you had a Breaking Dawn viewing party yet? In the spirit of the newly released DVD, ReelzChannel has put together a great number of ideas to host your own Breaking Dawn Party or change it into a romantic night in. They really have thought of everything; including what to wear, how to decorate, what to eat and drink, and of course they include the recipes. Check it all out below:

WHAT TO WEAR

For this kind of party, pajamas or sweats are the way to go. Pretty much anything that’s stretchy and comfortable will work. This is also definitely a good night to sport any Team Edward or Team Jacob T-shirts.

HOW TO DECORATE

There’s a couple of different ways to go for girls’ night decorations. If you already have a bunch of Twilight magazines, posters, and merchandise, pull it all out and get crazy covering everything in sight with pictures of Taylor Lautner and/or Robert Pattinson. If you’re not that brand of twi-hard, go to a party store and buy a whole bunch of inexpensive, sort of tacky wedding and baby shower decorations — think crepe-paper bells, giant plastic rattles. After all, you are celebrating Bella and Edward’s a wedding and Renesmee’s birth, right? It’ll be a fun twist, and definitely not your standard vampire décor. One word of advice: Definitely do not do the bridal/baby shower theme for a romantic night with your boyfriend. Pretty much any guy in existence will go into complete panic if he walks in for a romantic valentine’s dinner and finds everything covered in wedding/baby shower decorations.

WHAT TO WEAR

If you’re channeling Bella Swan and want to be fairly casual, try a cute, feminine top with your favorite jeans. For girls who have more in common with Alice, it’s hard to go wrong with a little black dress.

HOW TO DECORATE

For a romantic movie night, go with romantic decorations — candles, dim lighting, and some flowers in a vase. Make sure the fragrance of the candles and flowers won’t overwhelm your dinner. Scented candles are fine for just watching the movie, but go with unscented candles wherever you’re going to eat. Going with Gothic, vampire-looking décor is another way to go, but it’s certainly not necessary. The Cullens are vampires, but they live in a light, modern, airy house.

Stephenie Meyer Updates Her Site With News from ‘Breaking Dawn’, ‘The Host’ and ‘Austenland’

Posted February 11th, 2012 By: Evie 1 Comment »

After what seems like forever, we have a brand new update from Stephenie Meyer herself on her personal blog. Stephenie not only gives us one update, but gives us some information on everything she’s been working on including The Host, Breaking Dawn and even Austenland. Check it all out below:

On Breaking Dawn - Parts 1 and 2

Right now Breaking Dawn 2 is being edited and having special effects added. Still a ways to go with some very complicated effects; we’re doing some things we’ve never done before. I’ve gotten to see a few scenes so far, and everything is so cool. Bill Condon has such a gift. I was there, I saw everything get filmed, yet I’m still always surprised at how he’s able to put it together into something that is more than the sum of its parts.

I’m looking forward to the Breaking Dawn 1 DVD coming out this week. I actually have no idea what all is on it, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for some of my favorite scenes that didn’t make it into the movie.

I look forward to seeing some of you in the upcoming months as publicity for Breaking Dawn 2 starts up. It feels so weird to think it’s all coming to an end! Happy in some ways, depressing in others. The saddest part for me is that the next premiere is the last time I’ll get to see you guys all together. It’s something I always look forward to, even though it’s frenzied and I don’t really get a chance to talk to anybody. I’ll just tell myself that a couple of you will show up for The Host premiere so that I don’t get too depressed about finality and goodbyes. It’s been quite a ride, hasn’t it? Thanks for being there with me through all of this. It wouldn’t have been any fun without you. See, now I’m getting maudlin. Better call it quits before I start crying.

On The Host:

First, a little tease: check back to this page soonish, as I will have some very exciting news to share about upcoming chance for you to get involved with The Host. Stay tuned!

The Host begins filming this coming Monday the thirteenth, and I am so excited. It’s somewhat of a dream to have the creator and director of my favorite sci-fi film (Gattaca) helming this movie. I love the script he’s written, I love his beautiful vision, and I love working with him.

I also can’t say strongly enough how thrilled I am with our cast. The talent involved is unbelievable. We’ve been so blessed/lucky/kissed-by-fate all throughout the casting process. Wanda/Melanie is a very complicated role, and for a long time one of our biggest worries in the producer camp was finding an actress who could bring those two distinct personalities to life. And then Saoirse came along and we all quit worrying. If you’ve never had the pleasure of watching her act, I highly recommend her recent release, Hanna. Actually, watch her in anything she’s done and you’ll see what I mean.

Check out everything that Stephenie has to say on The Host, Breaking Dawn, Austenland and more on her blog here.

‘Breaking Dawn - Part 2′ Trailer to Debut in Front of ‘The Hunger Games’

Posted February 10th, 2012 By: Evie 3 Comments »

We’ve got some very exciting news on the day before our Breaking Dawn - Part 1 DVD comes out! The Los Angeles Times is reporting that we’ll be seeing a trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in previews before The Hunger Games on it’s opening weekend. Just like we thought, with the newly merged Summit and Lionsgate companies, they’re hoping that by combining Twilight and Hunger Games fans, The Hunger Games will have an awesome opening weekend. Read all of the details below:

The trailer for the fifth and final “Twilight” movie, “Breaking Dawn Part 2,” will debut exclusively on “The Hunger Games” in March — the first significant example of synergy between Lions Gate Entertainment and its new subsidiary Summit Entertainment.

When the studio acquired Summit in January, Lions Gate executives touted the opportunities that would come from bringing together two of Hollywood’s hottest young adult franchises. Because fans tend to get excited about seeing the first trailer for a highly anticipated sequel, Lions Gate is betting it can bring the huge base of “Twilight” fans to the opening weekend of “The Hunger Games,” which debuts March 23.

“‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2′ trailer will debut exclusively on every ‘Hunger Games’ print on its opening night for what will be Lions Gate’s largest release ever,” Santa Monica-based Lions Gate’s chief executive Jon Feltheimer said on a conference call with analysts Friday following the release of its financial results.

(Many thanks to Hypable for the video player!)

I don’t know about all of you, but I really enjoy hearing from Stephenie Meyer and getting her take on everything that goes on with the movies. These stories are essentially her babies, so it’s fun to hear what she thinks about how they come to life.

Visual Effects Supervisors Describe Special Effect Details in ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 1′

Posted February 8th, 2012 By: Evie 1 Comment »

Trevor Hogg over at Flickering Myth has a great chat with visual effects supervisors John Bruno, Phil Tippett, Edson Williams and Bruce Woloshyn about their work on Breaking Dawn - Part 1. Here we get some really in-depth details about the extreme amount of special effect that went into Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and how they went about making it all happen. Read more below:

“Altering Kristen Stewart’s body was incredible challenging,” admits Edson Williams. “Fortunately, Legacy created an absolutely amazing life-size puppet of an emaciated Bella; we constantly referred back to it for the body deformations. Most of the shots had both facial and body deformations so we thinned up Kristen’s forearms and legs, and added bony ridges to her knuckles.” The original reference material had to be abandoned. “During our initial development phase of the ‘Bella Effect’ we viewed images of starving young women. The images were horrifying, and we immediately began to search for another source, something much softer. We ended referencing thin fashion and runway models with very defined jaws and cheekbones.” Adjustments had to be made. “John immediately noticed we were reducing the width of Kristen Stewart’s jawline; once we restored the original width, she immediately appeared more emaciated.” 3D head references were used for every shot.

All I have to say is… WOW!
