‘Twilight’ and Robert Pattinson Help Canada Take Over Hollywood

Posted June 17th, 2011 By: Evie 2 Comments »

City News of Toronto has a look at eight ways they’ve noticed Canadian content popping up in television and film. As most Twilighters know, New Moon, Eclipse and even part of Breaking Dawn were filmed in Canada, and Robert Pattinson is in fact filming Cosmopolis on the streets of Toronto right now. Perhaps Canada is taking over Hollywood after all! Read more below:

The news David Cronenberg’s latest film “Cosmopolis”, starring Robert Pattinson, is being shot on the streets of Toronto, when based on a very New York novel about a billionaire riding his limo around the streets of Manhattan, got us wondering – where else does Canadian content (Can-con) unexpectedly pop up?

7. Even if “Twilight” fans/Robert Pattinson gawkers have figured out the “Twilight” series is shot in Vancouver, the natives of the city can really see Stanley Park standing in for the forests where Bella and her vampire friends hang and spot the city scenes featuring the yuppie area colloquially known to Vangroovey’s as “Kits”.

Jon Hamm Says He Could Play a Grandfather in ‘Twilight’

Posted June 17th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

The BBC has a short little interview with actor Jon Hamm, probably best known these days for his role as Don Draper on Mad Men. The interview is mostly regarding Jon’s view on reasons the next season of Mad Men is being delayed. What does this have to do with Twilight? Well, Jon goes on to talk about how lucky he feels to be working in the industry at his age, comparing his age to what his role would be if he was in Twilight. Read more below:

Hamm is a relative latecomer to big time Hollywood success and admitted that he didn’t take it for granted.

“I’m a million in Hollywood years,” he said.

“I’m 40, which is ridiculously old in Hollywood. I mean, come on, I’m not in Twilight. I could play their grandfather or something.

“It’s crazy that this has happened. I’m a very, very lucky human being.”

Read the full story at the BBC here.

While I think Jon is perhaps being a touch harsh on himself, it’s still a pretty funny view of the business!

What did you think of Jon’s comment regarding the only part he could play in Twilight?

Elizabeth Reaser Reads ‘Twilight’ Fan Fiction - ‘A Pair of Emerald Earrings’

Posted June 13th, 2011 By: Evie 2 Comments »

Apparently reading Twilight fan fiction is the cool new thing for our Twilight stars, what with Michael Sheen recently reading Unexpected Circumstances, and now Elizabeth Reaser is reading A Pair of Emerald Earrings. VH1′s ‘Big Morning Buzz’ is back with more dramatic reading as Liz reads the fanfic starring Esme:

This one had me laughing out loud! I love Liz, and her very dramatic reading of this was just too funny. It’s so funny that ‘Big Morning Buzz’ has continued on with the stars reading actual Twilight fanfic. Perhaps Michael Sheen’s reading was just so popular that they can’t resist doing more. I sure hope the get more of the cast on, reading fanfic about their characters.

What did you think of Liz’s reading?

Actress Nina Dobrev who plays both girl-next-door Elena Gilbert and vampire vixen Katherine (Petrova) Pierce on Vampire Diaries credited the success of Twilight to the success of her own show. Nina admitted at the MTV Movie Awards that they would miss Twilight when it was gone and that she’s gotten to be friends with several cast members of The Twilight Saga as well. Check out more below:

“I think that we’re all really happy for each other,” Nina said when asked by MTV News’ Josh Horowitz if she felt a kinship with her vampire counterparts. “I’m very happy that they exist because we exist because of them. Their success is our success. I’m kind of sad the movies are almost over.”

Even though audiences will be saying good-bye to “The Twilight Saga” come 2012, Nina won’t be bidding adieu to the actors anytime soon since she’s friends with most of the cast. “Kellan [Lutz], Ashley [Greene] and the whole group—we all run in the same circles,” she said with a smile.
