Rep. Emanuel Cleaver Jokes on the Problem with ‘Twilight’

Posted February 6th, 2012 By: Evie No Comments »

The Reliable Source over at The Washington Post has a rather funny story that combines a bit of fantasy with real life. It seems Rep. Emanuel Cleaver used a little Twilight theory to help his colleagues in the House understand the point he was trying to made about Congress grappling with an issue born of their own making. Rep. Cleaver started his speech by speaking out that real vampires and real werewolves would never date the same girl…. Read more below:

“Everyone knows that real vampires and real werewolves don’t date the same girl. This is a travesty that must be addressed by the horror scholars of this generation.”

— Rep. Emanuel Cleaver on the “disgusting” and misleading “Twilight” movies, in a letter last week to House colleagues and constituents reprinted by CQ. Yes, the eloquent Missouri Democrat went on to make a serious point, about Congress grappling with a monster born of its own acrimony — but he got your attention, huh?

See the full story over at The Washington Post here.

Thanks Noor!

What a goofus to start out a speech with a Twilight-reference! But undoubtedly, it must have grabbed the attention of his listeners.

What did you think of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s little quip on Twilight?

Dr. Carlisle Cullen on List of “50 Richest Movie Characters”

Posted January 22nd, 2012 By: Evie 4 Comments »

Total Film has put together a list of the “50 Richest Movie Characters” and our Dr. Carlisle Cullen has made the cut at #41. Carlisle also made a similar list over at Forbes in the past, and he of course owes all his riches to the hundreds of years he’s been practicing medicine. (Plus probably some nice investment help from Alice.) Read more below:

41. Dr. Carlisle Cullen

Wealth: $59m

From: Medicine

As Seen In: The Twilight Saga (2008 – 2012)

Having worked for over 350 years as practitioner, Dr. Cullen has accumulated vast wealth – much of which has been spent on luxuries such as his Mercedes S55 AMG and stunning home located deep in the Washington countryside.

Read the full list over at Total Film here.

Really, I’m guessing if people actually considered the help Alice could give, Carlisle would go way up on the rich movie characters list!

What do you think of Total Film’s list and Carlisle’s spot on the list?

Thank you Rachel!! :)

‘Twilight’ Poster Gets the “Disney” Treatment

Posted January 14th, 2012 By: Evie 9 Comments »

In honor of the 3D release of Beauty and the Beast, Next Movie has taken some of the biggest movie posters of the last few years and given them a Disney face-lift. Included in this “Disnified” group of posters, is one of the original posters for Twilight that featured Bella and Edward. Check out the poster below:

What’s responsible for the studio’s lasting success? In part, it’s the marketing. Disney movies have an unmistakable look and charm that gives us the warm and fuzzies. (You know your studio’s in good shape when a film that grossed over $100 million was considered a failure, as was the case with Disney’s 2009 release, “The Princess and the Frog.”)

What would the Disney magic do if applied to other films? We imagine what 10 other big movie franchises would like if they were created by the Mouse House.

‘The Twilight Saga’s’ Five Steamiest Scenes So Far

Posted November 7th, 2011 By: Evie 2 Comments »

While we patiently (or not so patiently) wait for Breaking Dawn - Part 1 to open in just a couple of weeks, E! Online’s Ted Casablanca has put together a list of the top five sexiest moments in The Twilight Saga movies so far. Bring on the honeymoon!

1. Meadow Makeouts!

Forget the pretty flowers and whatnot in the original Twilight, all we could focus on was that passionate kiss between Rob and Kristen Stewart’s onscreen counter parts: Bella and Edward (duh). As all the fans will tell you, this is a pretty crucial part of the Twi novels, and its onscreen counterpart did not disappoint.

2. If the Tent Is a Rockin’…

It just wouldn’t be fair if Edward got all the action, would it? Well, in Eclipse, Taylor Lautner’s Jacob gets some much needed lovin’! A freezing cold Bella gets warmed up by the hunky werewolf since Edward’s icy vamp self cannot help. And let’s not forget about Lautner’s line in the scene, “Let’s face it, I am hotter than you” (OK, some of the Twilight flicks do have good lines).

3. Sweet, Sweet Prom Night Kisses:

While we usually wouldn’t celebrate a way innocent prom night (in the first Twi film), we swooned when Edward kissed Bella’s neck while the two got their slow dance on! Sure, it wasn’t bedroom biz like their first kiss, but we’re pretty sure Twi-hards will agree that they nearly died during their sexy gazebo smooch.

Read the top two scenes at E! Online here.

I think I’ll always love that first kiss in Twilight!

Which Twilight Saga scene is your favorite?

If you’re worried about spoilers, this is a great sneak peek at the movie because it doesn’t contain brand new scenes. Instead, this clip takes some behind-the-scenes footage with new interviews from people such as Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Bill Condon and even Stephenie Meyer herself. Did I mention we also start at the beginning? The montage starts out with Twilight, and takes us through New Moon and Eclipse, all leading up to the big events in Breaking Dawn - Part 1. So sit down for a couple minutes, enjoy the clip, and then let out a squeal because it’s finally November!

‘Beavis and Butt-head’ Take on ‘Twilight’

Posted October 29th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

I’m sure you’ve noticed that Beavis and Butt-head are back and of course, this time around, leaving no corner of pop culture safe. In their latest episode “Werewolves of Highland” the famous duo decide there might be something to Twilight and all that supernatural stuff after all. Check out more below:

Here is where last night’s long-awaited “Beavis and Butt-Head” premiere enters the picture. I grew up with these guys, imitated them countless times and follow every move creator Mike Judge makes. (So, yes, in addition to being a Twi-Hard, I’m also a Butt-Hard.) When I heard “Twilight” would be skewered in the show’s return, I winced. Not because Beavis and Butt-Head were going rip on it, they rip on everything. My concern was they’d rehash the same jokes we’ve already heard.

But ladies and dudeslemen, Mike Judge and company rose to the challenge. Sure, Beavis and Butt-Head say “Twilight” sucks, they think most things suck, but they recognize attractive girls like it. Pretending to like “Twilight” for the sake of getting women is a joke that’s been made a thousand times. But this is where the show brings it to a new level. The guys actually attempt to become werewolves to get girls. They find a homeless man, who in their minds clearly looks like a werewolf, and ask him to bite them. He obliges and the boys are left to endure what they believe is the “transformation.” The sickness they’re actually feeling is hepatitis.

While I’m sure many Twi-Hards will condemn the show for mocking our love, I’d like to commend Beavis and Butt-Head for revealing themselves as hardcore Twi-Hards. Never mind the intention behind it, they were willing to be bitten by a homeless man in hopes they’d turn into a supernatural beast. How many of us have gone that far?

See the full article at NextMovie here.

I got a pretty good laugh out of this one, but I remember these two goobers from the first time around, and still manage to like them.

What do you think of Beavis and Butt-head taking on Twilight?
